Not Terrible
Didn't he blow away the tail at Wellington? (which has been far friendlier to spinners than the likes of Christchurch/Dunedin/Hamilton in recent years and wasn't that series majorly impacted by two rain affected draws? ).

Yes and yes. But he still won them the series.

Before that, I remember him tying down Raval (not the best player of spin, but still) who scored 80-odd and was pretty much keeping NZ together in that test, eventually got him stumped.

How lucky is Nicholls compared to Loosebuschange?
There was an article on cricinfo about a month ago.

Adding up drops per test etc. Since Labuschagne's debut. And Labuschagne was the luckiest in world, by their statistical measures. Nicholls didnt even get mentioned in the article at all or figure in any of the lists.

Which was a but weird.

But it was only based on dropped catches.

Didnt go into being dismissed off a no-ball, or umpires calls etc.

Maybe it is just recency bias with Nicholls? Or maybe Henry is catching up fast in an outside lane. His 'run of luck' didn't really start until last summer.

lmao at Rahane being dropped the second most number of times but still averaging 20

"In contrast to these batters, is Ajinkya Rahane. Rahane has been reprieved in more innings (as against most times) than anyone else during this period. He got at least a second chance in 15 of his 53 innings but could score only 274 additional runs. Less than half of what Labuschagne managed from less than two-thirds of Rahane's count of innings. As the cliché goes, you make your own luck."

Rabada to me has always been a bit like Dale Steyn in that with a brand new white ball going all out he might touch 150, but you mostly see him bowling in the 130s.

The other 3 just aren't express bowlers at all.
i thought I had heard talk of Jansen and Olivia being 140s plus?

16Tins at the ground today. Will try and get the inside scoop about the pitch etc. from him tomorrow. Any news expected to have to be pre-lunch - usually dosed up with beer and backyard cricket by early afternoon.

I have seen Rabada bowl quick but when he first started. Now he just ambles in and tries to nibble it. He used to hit the deck hard.
Rabada i feel hasn't done anything of note since ipl 2019 (bowling 154.4 km and wrecking a rampant scary in-form andre russell in a super over) and the odi wc match against aus in the same year

just kinda faded out since then

This is only a guess, and it's probably horrendously wrong and looks far worse on paper in my head, but Nipples has a run of low scores that he wouldn't have been dropped in. He was dropped 2-3-4 times in those knocks v WI and Pakistan (plus today by all reports) but didn't have many scores around that to be dropped in.

Labuschagne had a lot more consistently high scores. Laughable that Rahane averages so low and is second on the list.

Rabada is bowling within himself and still taking wickets. He gets better as he plays and bowls some pretty hostile spells then. As I said this day feels very day one of Indian series. Pity it is only two tests.
