Patel deserved that. His bowling's been far better than 1-85 would suggest.

Good work Jeets.

Interesting that the cricinfo commentator already thinks this is a good score from SA.
Bez: "What do you think is a par first innings score here, Shashank? I feel SA won't be satisfied with anything under 350." This is more than competitive, I'd say.
I think it's a pretty good wicket so far, something for fast bowlers but only if they really hit the deck, and a little something for the spinners, but still plenty flat for batting. Without considering the relative merits of both sides' bowling and batting, and the fact SA do have two fast bowlers who are very good at hitting the deck hard, I'd have thought this was more a 350-400 first innings pitch.

... and that's that - excellent bowling all innings from Boult.

Looking really good and taking 2/85 is pretty much classic Jeets tbh.
Yup, still a 40+ average Test spinner.

Think he was around 48ish test spinner prior to his county stints, now the new improved Jeets is probably come back a 42-43 average bowler.

Couldn't have hoped for much better than that this morning. Great bowling by all of Wagner, Boult and Jeets.

Agree, I think I said last night, if things go really well and we get de Kock, we could have them 250/6 and around 300 all out. Not far off our best possible scenario from the start this morning.

Now, let's not be 123/5 please. (or is that wishful thinking with Philander about)?

Good signs for Latham that, Jeez he looks so good when he just leans on those through cover. Chip off the old block, his old man wasn't as good but he could time a cricket ball too.

Disappointing from Latham, but I'm happy with that for a start. Huge session coming up now. Have to make it through to stumps no more than 2 down.

Duminy to Williamson, FOUR, half-tracker on middle and it gets the treatment it deserved. Pulled so hard that it brushed Cook's fingers at short leg and deflected to the boundary. Cook was trying to take evasive action. He seems to be in a lot of pain. Williamson apologises.
What is this Playing the Game in the Right Spirit thing. If this was India vs Australia he would follow the shot up with a taunt questioning Cook's masculinity instead of apologising.

ICC Spirit of Cricket Award locked in for another year then.

I recall Rabada in one of the ODIs apologising to the batsman when he picked up the ball after it was defended back to him and throwing it at the stumps and the batsman having to take evasive action
