jesus, taylor might have 5 tests left in his career given it's 5 games in 18 months, and he'll be 34-35 by then

i look forward to nz using this 18 months to do absolutely no planning towards the future middle order
Why would you say something like this

---------- < unknown batsman is my next Test series squad
You know Jeets is cooked when Athlai is dropping him.

Not even just from the eleven either -- jettisoned right out of the 16.

What's your team, CP? Who in for Santner?
That's the problem, there isn't someone exactly knocking the door down. I just hate seeing Santner getting a free ride because no one else is making a strong case. It feels like he's rarely given the ball and contributes zilch with the bat.

i'm hoping CdG gets a score in this game tbh. he's not popular on these boards but someone who can destroy an attack with the bat and be so damn useful with the ball would be perfect. Neesham's bowling is spray and pray and Anderson last bowled a ball in anger when the Romans ruled the world.

Happy to persist with Nicholls during the test drought too since he's shown several times he can rise to the occassion against good attacks. At least the drought gives depth time to develop in FC and NZ A (har har) cricket.

Those 5 test matches are at home so I doubt you'll see someone like CdG dropping out of the squad. Three against the West Indies and two against England.

CDG will get dumped because enough time will fade where they feel like they don't have to rely on the "numbers" he said putting out with the ball.

I don't think NZ will name a 16 man squad for a home series anyway, but yeah he should definitely remain an option for home Tests.

It'll be interesting to see how he performs with the ball when he next plays some PS cricket. He's always maintained a good average at that level, but he's tended to just not bowl much when the conditions haven't suited him because it was mainly his batting getting him in the side anyway. I think his Test h4x will probably change that a bit.

If cdg scores a century here he can have the number 6 spot and Jimmy will have to sit out.

Selecting Cdg at seven is *maybe* acceptable at home, with watling batting above him.

Well disappointing final hour, but you really can't complain about the day. Fingers crossed that the weather holds over the final couple days.

If KW can get re-established and the middle-lower order stick with him then we've still got a shot at a big lead. Seems like there's a bit of turn on offer (though given how overcast the forecast is I doubt it's going to really break up. Still it's pleasing to see the team playing closer to its potential

he gets given the ball plenty when he's the sole spinner

lol at thinking CM Punk's observations are actually valid from someone who has confessed to only ever watching in their downtime and posts when the team isn't doing well.
