Advantage for SA is they know exactly what to do on this pitch. Not beyond them. The collapse is really dire. A few more runs and we would have had this locked, almost.

Nah India just caught in between on whether to attack or defend. Also not as good against spin as the previous generation IMO.
This is the most important point about India's collapses here and also in Sri Lanka against Herath. Kohli and Rahane appear far more comfortable against pace on the bouncy Australian pitches hammering MJ all over the park.

He has 2 Test tons and averages 30+ vs Saha who averages ~20 with 0 tons.. and Saha comes in at #6 while Ashwin comes in at #9...

Whatever it takes!!!
He always has to stem a collapse.. he should be coming in at #6 or #7 not #9 like wtf? Who sends a 30+ average batsman at #9?

He is not fully fit to bat I guess. He mentioned after the SL series that he has been struggling with tennis elbow issues and even Sachin had it for more than 6 months. IT does not heal that soon and anyways, as long as it is not impacting his bowling it is fine. But yeah, that and perhaps not yet fully recovered from the side strain either maybe reasons why he is batting very much like a tailender these days.

Kumble is at least better than Harsha exuberant, always ready to crack a joke, never ready to discuss cricket Bhogle.

Pitch is not that bad at all. Its just that our new gen batsmen pretty much suck at milking spinners in reasonably helpful conditions. Rahane and Kohli esp., for guys who like to bat in the middle order, are shockingly poor at this.
