With Ishant it's just not worth it to get him playing these t20s now. If India wants him in t20 world cup matches then fine but he doesnt need to be grooming from now

It's definitely the case that some bowlers playing lots of LOI cricket can restrict their FC/Test development simply because they don't get to play that format as much—Mitch Starc, for one. Alternatively, they could be spinners who are pushed into bowling in a style which is really suited for LOI cricket and awful in Tests.

Ishant falls into neither of these categories, though. Bloke's played 60 Tests or w/e.

shakib for example, his bowling has gone down the drains in tests

Don't know why would SA play Tahir instead of Phangiso. Tahir has been awful. Thought Phangiso was in pretty decent form

Tahir been a gun in limited overs cricket for the majority of the last few years and has experience in India due to the IPL so not a crazy selection.

Ishant Sharma was absolute death for Sunrisers this year, binned very quickly, so very wary of giving him another chance whatsoever. Surely their has to be some other options before going back to him?

Come on guys, losing one T20 to SA is not the end of the world. There was much dew, and Ashwin bowled really well in spite of that. Axar is new. Bhuvi bowled too well against Zimbabwe; so don't be harsh on him. Mohit is a passenger (decent as a filler when someone is injured), and Aravind should go back to his hut (even if it means bringing back Binny). Hopefully if the next match provides assistance to spinners, we'll see Harbhajan. His flat deliveries are good in this format nowadays.

..can't wait for Shami to come back from his injury

Our batting is really fine, except that our IPL star Rahane needs to play in T20s ahead of Rayudu (maybe not in ODIs atm)

Whatever it takes!!!
I think Rayudu is a fair enough selection in that we do not have anyone who has experience of batting at 5 or 6 for their franchises and he is a better fit than Rahane for that role. I would get in Binny and Mishra instead of Mohit and Axar and in an ideal world, get Nehra instead of Aravind for T20s at least. That would solidify the side. And Bhuvi is a gun T20 bowler in these conditions yesterday's second last over notwithstanding. He was hitting 140+ rather regularly too, so I guess when he only has 4 overs to bowl, he does become a quick bowler. :p

Ishant is a terrible LO bowler. His natural length leads to a lot of edges behind the stumps, and when he tries to pitch fuller to compensate, which just leads to more hittable deliveries. When he misses his line it gets cut and pull.

He's doing well now, no need to mess with his head by getting him in the limited overs teams.

I don't think it'd be the worst thing in the world if he played some ODIs, particularly if the bowling plan could be structured in a way as to keep him away from the death bowling, but yeah he shouldn't play T20I cricket. Arguments over whether it'd affect his Test bowling aside, he's just really bad at it;.

He can play a role in ODIs, but we have decent bowlers already and Ishant needs the rest.
