or the plaudits napier gets for being a superslogger? It is, but of course it won't get the bum licking plaudits that "genius" Pietersen does for simply breaking wind at the crease.

Because he still contributed to England losses. E.g. His heave at 94 and his 13 of 5 balls. His 94 was awesome but if he he didn't play that shot, he could have put England in a much better position to win the test. It's one thing to be score lots of runs, it's another to do them responsibly and when it's required. I think they should the pick the player who contributed the most to winning the series. That would be Prince hands-down.I still can't see why KP won't be a candidate for man of the series. It doesn't have to go to someone on the winning team. Some Norm Smith medallists have been from the losing team for instance, for those familiar with Aussie Rules.
You know, i really thought Mahela Jayawardene and co. had him totally figured out in that series. He didn't once get to 50.It's down to his consitstency. He's always consistently at around 50.
I can't ever remember him having a truly outstanding series, Sri Lanka away aside, he's yet to have a bad series.

For most sides maybe, but wouldn't hold my breath with these English batsman.Given it's the Oval, and given SA doesn't have a WC spinner, I guess even a 250ish is pretty chaseable without fuss.
Yeah, he's been arguably their best bowler. Shows what a champ the bloke is really, even tho he's visibly in as bad a trot of form as I've seen him in he still contributes to the team.Kallis' worst series with the bat in over 10 years. Been good with the ball if that's much consolation.
Yeah, just looked it up, leading the bowling averages for both sides on the series!Yeah, he's been arguably their best bowler. Shows what a champ the bloke is really, even tho he's visibly in as bad a trot of form as I've seen him in he still contributes to the team.
Broad struggling with his line a bit here, beat Prince all ends up with the third ball of that last over but then serves up a wide one that just begged to be smacked & Ashwell obliged him.
