I still can't see why KP won't be a candidate for man of the series. It doesn't have to go to someone on the winning team. Some Norm Smith medallists have been from the losing team for instance, for those familiar with Aussie Rules.
Because he still contributed to England losses. E.g. His heave at 94 and his 13 of 5 balls. His 94 was awesome but if he he didn't play that shot, he could have put England in a much better position to win the test. It's one thing to be score lots of runs, it's another to do them responsibly and when it's required. I think they should the pick the player who contributed the most to winning the series. That would be Prince hands-down.

It's down to his consitstency. He's always consistently at around 50.

I can't ever remember him having a truly outstanding series, Sri Lanka away aside, he's yet to have a bad series.
You know, i really thought Mahela Jayawardene and co. had him totally figured out in that series. He didn't once get to 50.

The guy's had 7 of his 12 test series at home. The averages abroad, marked in bold are interesting. He's been poor in the subcontinent. Par and very good in NZ and Australia.

Scores level, what do people think would be within England's reach? With 5 batsmen I'd be nervous about chasing anything over 200 personally.

Why do all World class players always have to go into a shell whenver they are in bad form? Why don't they ever think that positivity helps? Look at Kallis. He is going nowhere with his overdefensive play. He is always going to nick one now or later.

and just as I finish typing... he is gone!!!

Prince or de Villiers need to ton up if South Africa are to have any chance of winning. Good bowling from Harmison, and it brings to end a very disappointing tour for Kallis.

Who would've thought that every member of the SA top order would score a century and Kallis would end with an average less than 15? I guess it's a good thing, as it shows that the other batsman can step up when Kallis is out of form.

Kallis rotten run of 2008 continues. His average in 2008 continues to be in the 20s. So does his average in England after 12 test matches.

Kallis' worst series with the bat in over 10 years. Been good with the ball if that's much consolation.
Yeah, he's been arguably their best bowler. Shows what a champ the bloke is really, even tho he's visibly in as bad a trot of form as I've seen him in he still contributes to the team.

Broad struggling with his line a bit here, beat Prince all ends up with the third ball of that last over but then serves up a wide one that just begged to be smacked & Ashwell obliged him.

Yeah, just looked it up, leading the bowling averages for both sides on the series!

Kallis' 10 wickets (for 28.50):

Bell, Cook, KP, KP, Collingwood, Ambrose, Anderson, Collingwood, Flintoff and Ambrose.

Only the one tailender in there. Fair effort, and as Brumby said really shows his use that even though he hasn't contributed with the bat he's made up for it somewhat with the ball.
