Gutted, cuts out my excellent planning of starting my next group at one so I could follow the cricket through to lunch :(

Michael Holding reveals an interesting insight into cricketers of his generation who concentrated more on fitness imbetween tours than anything else - many, including myself, thought it the other way around. There is talk of sending Steve Harmison to the MRF Pace Foundation to work with Dennis Lillee prior to the India Tour but would he be able to handle the excess of time away from home. Two Tests and a tour game seems like a good 'bish-bash-bosh' for Harmison to do his thing and then get home to the wife and kids - knowing that it is a short tour may help his touraphobia in this instance.

EDIT: ITSTL, I live about 35 minute drive from the Oval and the weather is cloudy but fine over here - I hope that the Oval has recieved the rain that I got about 50 minutes ago as it was followed by a sunny spell and then some dry cloudy weather.

Nasser Hussain seems to have some sort of gift for extracting interesting inverviews out of certain players - asking good questions and having the ability to get players to give honest answers. Guess people just trust him.

This Pietersen thingy is 50 times better than the new-captain press-conference. Not quite as good as his Harmison interview in New Zealand, but really interesting.

As I said about Nick Knight in a different thread, I like Hussain in a studio discussion/interview scenario than as a commentator. I think he is the best option for the Third Man role.

Ooo, painkiller for Flintoff for a sore toe:laugh: - I've lost my toenail a couple times myself.

AWTA. Nice interview. Makes KP come out as a far more sympathetic bloke too.

I reckon I'd look decent against Broad to be honest. Just doesn't look even close to an international class bowler for me.

Dunno what it is about him but all the Poms here at work seem to love Broad and rate him big. Never seen what the fuss was about.

He's a very fine ODI bowler and fools translate this into him being a good Test bowler.

Me neither....He's played 8 test matches before today and has taken 19 wickets at an avg of 49.36 (econ 3.22). That's nowhere near good enough.

For comparison Plunkett & Mahmood, who were both (quite rightly) dropped for being not good enough had these stats when they were dropped

Plunkett - 9 tests, 23 wickets, avg 39.82 (econ 3.57)
Mahmood - 8 tests, 20 wickets, avg 38.10 (econ 4.04)

So they took more wickets, with a much better average (although they were more expensive) and they were told to go back to their counties and get more experience....i'd be telling Broad the same thing.

Smith gone to a good bouncer. Well deserved by Harmison and thank god it wasn't Monty at fine leg.

Ouch, thought Saj's stats would've been far worse than that.
