I`m a little surprised about the negativity regarding Cook. Considering the conditions, it was very good 88 and he has held this Eng innings together up till now.
It;s just notable how his conversion rate used to be the best thing about him, and over the last few years it's become very ordinary. When talking about a player who is probably our best opener for 40 years, it's hard not to get greedy.

Yeah, looks a better day to bat today. Need to double this score really, as I think Day 1 will be hardest time to bat in Test.

Still more in it for the ball than usual at the Oval though.

This is what concerns me about Morris, he is a very good player that bowls some very good balls and spells. But he also gives away way to many runs. If he was our primary strike bowler it would be alright, but as a 4th seamer I`m not so sure.

It was a very good innings, but he doesn't play many great innings for a player of his calibre these days and it's disappointing.

Also we're critical people. We have a go at Root for conversion for god's sake. Both kinda harsh but when you're starved for great batsmen you get like this.

Lineup is heavily reliant on them too, so if they don't convert their fifties into big scores it stings more. They'd probably get a little less criticism in a stronger lineup.

Mikey Holding going a bit far to suggest 300 is a bad result for bowling side, whilst the pitch has been helpful it's not a minefield.

Cook's conversion thing has basically turned him from a batting Demigod to just a decent player. His rate of getting to 50 in the last four years is basically as good as his golden three years from 2010-2013 when he averaged over 60. You won't find a bigger fan than me but when a strength becomes a weakness and does that to a player it's pretty damn disappointing.

TMS also saying that the England ladies skipper is England's only WC wining captain apart from Bobby Moore.
Which of us is going to drop them a line and mention Martin Johnson?

Has seen it hooping and is pitching it up far too much.

Yeah when you win the toss and bat first you shouldn't really be happy with 300 exactly. It'd be acceptable but that's about it.

They've won it in rugby league a few times as well I think. Wikipedia also informs me that we've been netball world cup winners and that GB were the first ever world champions in baseball. Facts eh
