Eh? I'm not a Morkel fan but it's a bit strange to go after him here. He bowled really well in this match. So what do people think should be done about Morkel? He keeps on flattering to deceive doesn't he? He will have a good spell or even good series every now and then but he can never sustain it for long against good opposition. And he is at his worst when his team needs him most, tough fourth innings against good teams. Who are the promising pace prospects ? I remember Tsosobe looked quite decent against India and IIRC some new bowler did well against Sri Lanka recently.
Tahir is also a difficult case. I think he has some potential but he probably needs a couple of years to hone his bowling and become more consistent. Right now he is not good enough but does SA have a better spinner? Boje obviously brings something with the bat but I don't think he is really a better bowler.
You're just itching to tell us that he "hasn't proved himself on the subcontinent", aren't you.Playing home/away to most teams, or at least on all continents might be a start...
Sorry but ****ing useless sadsack Bopara's selection is infinitely worse. At least Lumb will probably get a quick 15-20 before getting out. Wright generally does well if he gets past 0 and can bowl decent yorkers. Bopara is worse than a total waste of space, he's an utter liability in T20. Ignoring whatever the hell has been going on lately how can they have not noticed that he scores at a such a pathetic rate in T20? Even at domestic level he's slow, at international level he's a joke.ODI Series squad- Cook Anderson Bairstow Bell Bopara Bresnan Dernbach Finn Kieswetter Morgan Patel Swann Trott Woakes
England squad for SA T20's and World Cup - Broad Bairstow Bopara Bresnan Briggs Buttler Dernbach Finn Hales Kieswetter Lumb Morgan Patel Swann Wright
**** me recalls for lumb and wright. shows how bare the cupboard is. lumb **** me - he's had a good season but he's so short of international quality it's embarrasing.
Wright is absolutely fair enough. In fact if you're going on the best English t20 players available Owais Shah has to be in the somewhere, has scored runs all over the world. Lumb is just ridiculous.ODI Series squad- Cook Anderson Bairstow Bell Bopara Bresnan Dernbach Finn Kieswetter Morgan Patel Swann Trott Woakes

Pick anyone but him. Anyone.
Well played to the Proteas. having wached the series, its fair to say that the english bowling aint as good as people were thinkin. Broad for me was not as good as people were hyping him up. and now that i think about it, the so called bench strength in the english set up was nowhere to be seen. The super talented Cook was shown to be fallible after all. Moral of the post? dont over hype players.
Well, he actually said he wanted him to speak f2f rather than through intermediaries, which would seem a basic requirement, ya know for a human.Anyone see the Flower interview with Mr Tomato on SS News?
Think KP is a goner unless he really grovels.
It was the tone of the reply to the last question which gave the game away.Well, he actually said he wanted him to speak f2f rather than through intermediaries, which would seem a basic requirement, ya know for a human.
Yeah we get it, no Durham players....Flower getting in behind Strauss some more from the sounds of it.
Sick of this selective sentimentality. Finding it pretty difficult to get behind England at the moment with KP-gate (badly handled and it's pretty obvious there have been leaks aplenty). The endless selection of Bopara and Strauss which is utterly devoid of any merit, meanwhile guys like Onions get royally screwed over. The resident batsmen seem to have an unlimited licence to play utterly brainless cricket, without any chance of being dropped. Meanwhile the guys who are under the most pressure to perform are the newbies like Taylor and Bairstow. The pressure should be on the rest to perform, they've been absolutely rank for the past year. Really am sick of it.
