He hasn't retired , CSA doesn't provide clarity on selection issues we notice Harmer not playing domestic cricket and we have to form our own conclusions sadly.

Agreed. It's just that if you go in with four bowlers and two spinners, both of your spinners need to be dependable. Unfortunately Piedt hasn't shown that sort of control.

And we keep talking about Mulder as a front line bowler. He isn't, not in my mind, as excellently as he as done. We actually went in with 3 front line bowlers in this match, which is not sustainable long term.

I`m fine with the current selection because I'm looking at the batsmen, and thinking long term there is only 2 spaces available for 3 of the current selected batsmen. Maybe 4 batsmen in 3 spots depending how solid you think Stubbs position is and Bavumas long term status.

Finally ! But wow Markram is one stubborn captain. Piedt has been struggling for 16 overs and he refused to bring himself or Stubbs on , if we don't wrap up this tail in 100 runs time it's going to be nervy times.

Must say Mehidy Hasan has played brilliantly too.

Maharaj has a lot of strapping on his fingers , he's bowled 34 overs more than Piedt and Mulder combined , that's a heavy workload for a 4 man attack even if he's a spinner ..

Sometimes the pitches are a little spicy in the beginning and then settle down. Also it feels like a new ball pitch. Which is dangerous for SA chasing a small total will require real application from the top order.

I wonder if it might be a case of giving your bowler a 100% chance to succeed. If that's the thinking then I don't mind. Mainly because I`m still thinking long term with regards to find the right players for the team.
