What is Katich trying to do at the moment?

I think he needs to obviously look at rotating the strike a bit more and as I write this he's just a nice cover drive for four!

He's certainly trying to persevere with the cut shot.

Reckon McKenzie has set a pretty good field to him here.

Katich getting bogged down because of the good bowling/fields then? Or is it that he's not looking for singles enough?

Yeah the field for Katich has been really good. Restricted his off-side play a lot.

Having said that I think he's a pretty patient guy and won't mind that much, but it's still a good field.

Ponting looking really good after that first ball too, and the pitch is a lot tamer than it was last night. Will probably get harder to bat as the day goes on like yesterday, so a declaration after tea could leave a pretty difficult period for SA before stumps.

I wonder if the Aussie team will change up the batting order in any way if Ponting was to get out?

I don't think it would be a good thing if Hussey joins Katich at the crease, as there is a chance that they would get bogged down completely and make the declaration later then what is actually required.

How was Hayden's innings today? Scratchy or big hitting and then out with a big shot?
Went for his shots, was a poor shot which led to his demise. Live by the sword, die b the sword. That's why he has to go though, there's such an air of desperation to his batting.

Sounds like deja vu to me. Just saw the highlights of his dismissal, channel 9 shot it as if he was gonna retire. Had a tear in his eye, wife was crying and standing ovation waving the bat around a bit.

Be interesting to see whether Harris or Hauritz get any real bite out of this wicket. You'd surely think that one of them would have to on such a dry deck, but Harris' undercutters don't look like gripping too much at the moment.

Nope. Let's see how these two go together.

South Africans should employ a tight ring field and choke the scoring and I guarantee a few wickets will fall. If not at least they won't have to chase as many/not have to bat as long to save the game.

Katman pretty lucky there.

On first view, thought it was pretty much out. Might've looked a bit high, but he's batting so deep in the crease.

I would, as long as Chappeli was nowhere near the commentary box at the time.
