Fair enough decision I reckon

Healy is wrong (as usual)...before hawkeye imo MORE high lbws were given out, hawkeye has shown how often the ball is going over....however, hawkeye shows a lot of balls clipping leg that were previously thought to be missing

I'm sitting at a bit of an angle from the TV, and focusing more on the computer than the cricket, but I'm sure the commentators on 9 said that Bowden was watching to see if the ball was caught, and therefore can't have been interested in the lbw

ok, it seems Ponting did catch it

lol it's almost as if Bowden wasn't sure whether he was caught or lbw, and therefore gave it not out, despite the combination of factors making it a definite out

Haha, McDonald the first bloke to build up pressure for us all series, and he gets pasted by everyone on here. Looked a bit out of it with the bat, be interesting to see how he goes in the second innings.

This is what he does every game for Victoria, whilst we rotate the real quicks from the other end.

Hmm, sort of. Bowden looked at the LBW, and then looked up to see if the ball was caught - the implication being that he thought there might have been an edge. It was a fair point, but Ian Healy managed to make a complete meal of it and make it devoid of any real point.

Not to happy with the lack of hunger to win here from SA. They did the same in Eng :| they wrapped up the series and then got spanked by Eng because it looked like they just dont care.

Dropped catches and poor running was not seen in the first 2 tests (bar the McKenzie drop)

Agreed.

First time I've ever disagreed with Healy, tbh...

As a Kiwi, and a former mind-numbing medium-pacer myself, I'm appreciating McDonald's no frills, unrelentingly accurate medium-pace.

This has been more like the Australia of previous years. Nothing happening in the air or off the pitch (much), then restrict their scoring and frustrate them out. Force the errors.

Bowden is such an ordinary umpire btw. Needs to concentrate more on what's happening in front of him, rather than his flashy signals. Gotta feel for Bollinger.... Deserved that wicket...

McDonalds provides a good ballance in the team to build up pressure on the south africans. Wouldnt mind seeing a spinner though

58.3 Bollinger to Duminy, no run, whats wrong with that shot? Bollinger slips in a full, swinging delivery to Duminy that slants back in, he goes for the flick and misses and they all go up in appeal, Billy Bowden shakes his head and replays show the ball may have taken out leg stump ... meanwhile Ponting is interested in the two noises and goes up for the catch at second slip ... while that cannot be given out, the shout for appeal was tight
lol wut?

EDIT: Nevermind, made no sense first time I read it. Anyway, any idea why they say the catch cannot be given out?

Okay, this is a bit OT but relevant to Aussie chances in SA. Australia MUST sack Nielsen and get Ganguly to coach them. Ganguly might be able to get some backbone into people like clarke.
Also, they should try to get Harbi to hold some spin clinics when he has some time. Obviously that fool Jenner doesn't know **** and he can't ride Warnie's tail-coat forever. Harbi is possibly the greatest off-spinner playing the game right now (aside from Murali, Mendis, Jeetan Patel).

McDonald's definitely been better today than he was yesterday evening with the ball. Still can't see much of a test future for him, but he's doing a job.

Yeah that's right, get some backbone into Clarke after he's played 3 million innings since the Indian series where Australias backs have been to the wall and he's stuck around (sure he's had some luck, but that's beside the point) and guided the team to respectable totals.

Oh noes, went for 2 an over yesterday!!!
haha he can't win can he?

Even when his main weapon of swing is non-existent in these conditions, hes still able to do a brilliant job.

9 overs 5 maidens 1/4 today is super impressive.
