The new Sri Lankan manager wonders how on earth you can give away a 100-run first innings lead like that? For once I thought we had a chance...

India v Australia was fun :)

If we draw a match in the next series I will be seriously surprised.

Th closest you'll come to drawing is forfeit due to losing your players to the hospital. :baddevil:

Well Sri Lanka pulled off a draw. :( Only after more than a day of play was rained out though. :!(

Somehow I don't think so Liam :)

Quite optimistic now about this series - just if my top order could start batting properly and not fold like a house of cards. Rain dance worked I see...

Some extremely interesting results this round, especially as a result of India's unorthodox approach.

All I can say for the WI v SL game is 'DAM RAIN!!!'

I love this :)

This is what a certain English newspaper might have written, if the League for the Ages could have been possible IRL.

The Times

The Oval Nadir

The great all-time English side, featuring grand bowlers of the past such as SF Barnes, GA Lohmann and JC Laker, and batsmen of the style of JB Hobbs, L Hutton, H Sutcliffe, DCS Compton and G Boycott were humiliated today by a Sri Lankan side who have only won one Test this season - and that was a forfeit. England even led this all-time league at one point, and now they went down to a Lankan side without a bowling attack. Their most renowned bowler is M Muralitharan, with a Test average of 21, and as most of our readers will remember he single-handedly destroyed the present-day English on their tour of Sri Lanka just before Christmas.

The disaster was cooked up by the bowling of WPUJC Vaas, who took 5 wickets for 34 runs in the first innings, among them great batsmen such as L Hutton, H Sutcliffe and KF Barrington, and by the batting of M Jayawardene, who smashed 159 runs off the English batsmen before being caught by Hutton off Barnes's ball. Sri Lanka put up 311, 182 runs ahead of the already beaten English. Muralitharan then administered another collapse, as England swiftly moved from 52 for 1 to 97 for 5 as Hammond, Barrington and Compton left without even getting properly into the game. GA Lohmann and G Boycott managed to avoid the innings defeat, but the English side must now surely have seen its nadir. They set a meagre target of 34, which Jayasuriya, Atapattu and Dias chased without a problem to set up the convincing 9-wicketwin. To draw the series, the 3rd Test must now be won, something which seems roughly as probable as winning the 2005 Ashes.

Very big win there for Sri Lanka. Historic proportions and I will have a bit of a laugh if England were to lose the series. :)

Question: Why isn't the third series inverted - the 5th series was the 1st inverted (i.e. SL v WI in 1st series, WI v SL in 5th), then the 6th was the 2nd inverted - shouldn't the seventh be the third series inverted?

Instead, that looks like the 4th series. Seems like you want me to meet the tough sides again :(

Howcome my named test XI didn't play, is there something in the rules that I didn't know about?
Hmmm... after setting teams the game crashed before I could start the simming. That probably had something to with it. I probably should have rechecked the teams after rebooting, but I trust all the others were correct?

I will discuss it with Marc and we will compensate for it point-wise somehow.
