Tbh I don't think its as much as a rivalry as it once was, not played a high profile world cup for a while and nobody bar boomers care about Falkland's/hand of god.

They emphasised technical ability before it was cool. Teams like that tend to come into their own at major tournaments because they involve lots of games in very hot weather, so keeping the ball is incredibly valuable. Basically the inverse of England’s long-running problems.
Modric being one of the absolute best midfielders in the world for like 15 years helps a lot. But they also had a great side in the 90s that played a similar way.
