That's a day I'm not forgetting for a while.

I love Bres, have I mentioned that? Guy has a batting average of 37 to go with his bowling average of 27.

What a fantastic day for England, couldn't have gone much better (wish the controversy hadn't happened) and we are now in a position with 2 days left to go 2 up despite having lost the toss twice in bowler friendly conditions.

Bell was superb, forget the hooha this was his BEST innings for England and it came when it mattered. KP played brilliantly and showed maturity in 1st session, letting bell have the strike when you are KP can't have been easy. Morgan did well but batted when the joke bowlers were on, still not sure about him and Prior did what prior does with great support from Bresnan.

Roll on tomorrow, should have enough but still plenty of batting to come with Broad and Swann so 500 lead is possible.

Dhoni the MOM regardless of result or performances by others, not sure i'd have done the same as him.

Some big choices ahead for India. I don't think there's any conceivable way Zaheer can be risked as part of a three-man seam attack (in fact I suspect he's not in any fit state to be risked at all, but if he's even 70-80% he's still the top boy) so does Harbhajan miss out and Sree or Munaf come in? Or does Mukund make way for another bowler? If Irfan was in the squad I think the 2nd option would be more likely than the Hail Mary it would be now.
If Sehwag was fit, it would have been more clear tbh. Much better bowler than Raina, who i don't think we can rely on too much to take wickets.

Though having said that, going with 4 pacers still might be a good option at Trent Bridge if we are gonna risk ZAK again.
Spinners have taken 3 out of 69 wickets in the last 2 matches there.
As i said it depends on the pitch conditions being the same, but it is not like Harbhajan is bowling superbly at the moment.
So should India have gone with 4 seamers?

Even in the Ashes we didn't have as bad of a day as this. Letting England get 417 in a day on a bowling track is worse than letting them get 500/1 on a flat track.

Whatever it takes!!!
Ah well.. a disappointing loss for India.. But some good might still come out of this. Bhajji getting chucked out for one.. India agreeing to UDRS with all but ball's projected path being used, for another...

Well done, England.. You wanted to be #1 in tests more than us. You deserve this win :)

Barring Praveen's initial spell with the second new ball, India's bowling effort today is one of the worst I've witnessed in recent times. There didn't seem to be a bowling plan in place, or if there was one, it was botched spectacularly.

That said, the effortless timing displayed by Bell today was the best such display I've seen by an English batsman since Vaughan's legendary Ashes series.

They used to call Both "Guy the Gorilla" in the days when his stats looked like that

Oh I don't know, 98 all out and 160 without loss was a bad day.

Just showed on Sky that Raina thought the ball had gone for 4 and he'd picked the helmets up and started to walk off himself.

Well done India, and Dhoni. Magnificent.
Reading this post just made my day.. :) Will take a loss to England in England for such posts, tbh :)

And yeah, well done, Dhoni. Nice sportsmanship there.. I am not sure if Bell was trying to go for the run or he just forgot to get back before going on to talk to Morgan but whatever it is, I felt it was wrong when Murali was run out by NZ, so it is nice to see some cooler heads prevailing there.
