Not even funny and I can't ****ing believe it tbh, any spinner taking 3 on the first day at Lords on wicket like that is bad........but a hack like Smith??

I suppose at 28/3 I'd have taken this score, but went to bed at 160 odd for 4 with Australia bowling utter tripe.......was fully expecting to wake up to 300/4 with Belly on 150no.

I'll give up watching cricket if Steve ****ing Smith gets his name on the honour roll at Lords!!
Nah ****. Play the bowling not the bowler. Even Steve Finn occasionally produces wicket taking balls. Two of Steve Ali's wickets were good 'uns.

In affectionate remembrance of Indian supporting Prof
Whose posting died a premature yet timely death on 19 July 2013. RIP.
His posts will be cut and pasted to iCF
And no one will really give a toss.

What a stupid comparison, when Finn is not bowling garbage he is a very good test bowler as his sub 30 average indicates. Steve Smith takes his test wickets at over 70 and even his FC bowling ave is nearly 60.

You can handle him taking 1, nice little experiment by Clarke, mix it up and all that.....but ****ed if he should ever be taking 3 top order wickets. Should never happen and Bell (we'll cut a little slack with as he was first and made an innings saving ton), Bairstow and Prior need a slap for embarrassing themselves at the home of cricket.

No it's not. If someone comes on and bowls a good spell or some wicket taking balls, then that's what it is. Doesn't matter who they are.

Prior's was a poor shot to a clever ball, Bell's was just a good ball, Bairstow should be made to watch Smith bowling to Imran Farhat on repeat for eternity.

OK, maybe my assessment is a little harsh (haven't even seen the wickets yet ) but that was some seriously hard news to take first thing this morning.

Prior seems somewhat determined to waste good form ATM. Handy for us as he's a very good player these days

Agree with Burgey and MW. He bowled well.

But I do sympathise with Adders. Smith is not a good bowler, but then again Bruce Martin took a 4for against England recently. Some with good balls, some, not so much.

To be fair, Smith is a talented bowler as has been considered as such for years. Bowling leggies for a living is just hard yakka.

Getting very concerned about our entire batting line-up save for Bell tbh. Seems we've lost the ability to buckle down and then cash in later when things get easier, something we were doing so well not so long ago.

Aussies bowled very well first hour with just enough there to trouble any batsmen, after that though it should have been make hay time. Trotts dismissal was just shocking, soft as you like and totally against the run of play.....wtf has happened to him??

Yeah it is hard yakka, and it doesn't get much harder than a day 1 Lords wicket and the **** has got 3/18.
