*Official* Second Test at Lord's

Pizzorno

State Vice-Captain
Notted rubbish player Jonathan Trott also in need of runs because I'm not counting any of his scores above 10.
To be fair, everyone always bangs on about Trott being the man for a crisis but he's not actually done it for a while either. I'm backing Bairstow to come good as I really think it's last chance saloon for him in this test a la Paul Collingwood Edgbaston 2008 vs SA.

Perhaps the wide stuff is a plan by the Aussies. Dry England up and force the rash shot on what is still a flat pitch.

Definitely do that in an hour or so but with the ball new and swinging, and the oppo three down, you can afford a more attacking line

Tufnell on TMS is getting psoitively excited about the cracks on the pitch and how they'll turn out by the end of the match.

Shame England won't get to bowl on it on Day 5.

Forecast, fwiw.
England 120
Aus 290
England 300
Aus 131 for 5 by lunch time on Day 4

I think it's just that it's the best place to bowl to these two. Might be wasting the new ball but tbh there's already not a lot of swing left.

The cracks won't do anything anyway. I'm getting a bit bored of commenators and pundits talking about the cracks breaking up. They never do.

You can employ those tactics, but surely when you have the new ball and it is swinging it is worth going straighter and bringing the three slips and gully into play, or two slips and two gullies?
