*Official* Second Test at Lord's - Aug 12-16 2021

Not when we had Shami do it in the first innings.
Ishant may be the worst batsman in terms of potential individual contribution. When you factor in potential partnership contribution Shami is much worse though.

Sreesanth batted 8 a few times I think. Although to be fair there was a time where I thought he could've pulled that off and averaged 20. Few cricketers have disappointed me more allround, and I have no shortage of Test hacks on my internal childhood bedroom wall. Watto and Sami would be up there. Sinclair should've averaged high 30s but that's not quite the same.

Even though I think he may have possibly been the most cynical nightwatchman ever, I think back to this time Hoggard batted eight:

#8 should be able to form a partnership without protection. Hoggard had a good defence. Saj and Harmy didn't even though they were definitely more likely to makle runs. In theory your #8 could be the worst batsman in the side and it still make sense.

Pant continuing to get starts with this level of consistency is mind boggling to me. A nutter like him shouldn't be able to have so few complete dud innings.
Yeah it’s great.

He’s got ridiculous hands. Shithouse batting and keeping technique but the hands are so ****ing good. The third or fourth ball he faced today from Root where he jumped down, found himself like 3 feet from the ball and still reached out to caress it through the covers was a great example.

if we bat 10-15 overs and add 30 runs, england will have 75 overs to get 180. if burns and sibley take the first 10 overs to get set and score 20 or something, they'll need 160 in 65 overs. RRR 2.4 an over. if we get 2 wickets and they take another 10 overs to settle down, 150 in 55 overs. 2.7 an over required. we might be able to draw or win depending on what happens

Unless there are further rain/light delays or England lose a bunch of wickets in the first session and go full ABdV/Faf, it's not gonna be a draw IMO.

At least not with that target. Maybe if India bat longer.

I was thinking the same! We shouldn’t underestimate Burns and Sibley and how slow they score! No Stokes there who they may have been able to send in to open! We need another 30-50 minimum to have a shot here

yeah most likely result is eng grinding to a boring win but if jadeja gets turn it might make the day interesting

wonder if bairstow will still have slow left arm ptsd from earlier in the year
