Pujara's mental toughness is something else. I hope he sticks to his style no matter what, his method might not work on total lottery pitches where you can get out on any delivery, but it works everywhere else. Also, his contribution in the game so far has been huge, this game could have easily gone out of India's control had Pujara not hung around for so long.

England catching to the fore again

Followed by a wasted review. Wheels coming off?

Absolutely brilliant umpiring though.

Credit to England and Root here, they've really tried everything. Pitch is just dead af bar some funny things happening for Moeen out of the rough.

Proper test match knock. Got to admire the diligence.

Apropos of nothing: it occurs to me England suddenly have two pony tails in the XI; I can't think of one (in the men's side) previously to Burns's effort. Am I forgetting anyone?

Sidearse probably has the longest Barnet I can remember from an England international, but he tended to let his copper ringlets run wild and free.

Maybe Tom Curran when he played in the 2017/18 Ashes. Although he may have preferred the top-knot to a genuine pony tail.

Yeah but tbf if you bat so many balls it’s gonna happen eventually.

Still, he’s left India in a much better place than they were when he got there.
It's hard to tell because his general game is so attritional but he was microscopically more assertive in that knock. His triggers looked good as he spent more time at the crease, the bat started coming down straighter too.
