sums it up for me. Rose and Cunningham were good with the ball in the first innings and a few guys got starts with the bat but no one went on with it, again.

After taking two steps forward, the Colts bowlers limited the Masters XI to 199, the batsmen took two steps back, bowled out for 181. The Colts cast away their memories of their debacle against Cricket Web Black, contrasting in their performance with both bat and ball.
Thad Bochat took 3 of 7 wickets shared by the Colts pacers, then the spinners combined for figures of 20-2-68-2. The Masters XI looked to Lance Klusener to revive the innings, but he could only find the boundary three times in 52 from 76 balls. The Colts' search for 200 runs seemed a comfortable demand on a pitch without much assistance for the bowlers. The openers struggled to face up to aggressive bowling from Boyd Rankin and Tyron Henderson, and the latter took 3 wickets in his opening spell.
A desperate mixup accounted for the run out of Chris Butler (22) - the key wicket - and Jennifer Law (7) was struck adjacent in the next over. Mike Wilson and James Griffen fought to revive the innings with slow and steady progress. For 7 overs Shane Warne kept things tight with his champion legspin then in his last 3 overs he claimed 4 wickets, the first of which was Wilson for 20. The manageable required run rate looked much more difficult as wickets tumbled and in the end the Colts lost by a clear 18 runs.

There were again chinks in the Cricket Web Black armor, but the feebleness of the Cricket Web Red middle order made then all but inconsequential. CW Black failed to meet the batting standards they set against the Colts, but defended 258 all out with 33 runs to spare.
A yorker from Dave Watt shattered the threat of the CW Black opening pairing, bowling James Stedman for 9. His partner Ash Chaulk did not bat with the fluency of his last two innings, but on a slower Pickford pitch he played the anchor role in a partnership of 96 for the second wicket. After he nicked the tidy Kingsley Clapham for 57, Andrew Cloete continued to 88 off 95 balls. The Blacks reached to 218-3 before a dramatic collapse. Far from their typical form this season, CW Black lost 7 wickets for 40 runs and finished all out for 258.
In responding to their loss of momentum with the bat, CW Black hit back strongly with the new ball. The first wicket was taken by Kev Gough - Mork caught behind flashing outside the offstump. Gough and Kexing Su shared 4 wickets in the first 12 overs and limited the CW Red start to 55-4. Zac Gelman trapped Reddlapalli lbw for 9 and Jamee Gray surrendered to a Neil Pickup googly, bowled not playing a shot, and the score was then 92-6. Runs were required at more than 5.6 per over, so Gaurav Nayak (56) and Callum Thompson (44) rebuilt the innings with some urgency.
It was an admirably effective partnership of 95 for the seventh wicket, but Thompson swung over the top of an Ashley Arnold slower ball and was bowled in the 39th over. The CW Red tailenders struck the ball with some enthusiasm when they got the chance, but could muster enough to topple the CW Black total. Clapham top-edged a slog and was last out, leaving Nayak unbeaten on 56.

All the experience of Liam Camps and Pete Young came to the fore as Cricket Web Blue recovered from 55-3 to chase 222 and defeat Cricket Web Green. Both batsmen chipped in with half-centuries to guide the chase when the inexperienced heads of the team looked to be struggling.
The CW Blue bowling card took an odd shape with 10 wickets shared between the first and sixth bowler used. Each of Camps and Sean Fuller took 5 wickets, while the rest of the attack combined for figures of 29-0-156-0. Nick Scott held the innings together somewhat with an innings of 98, but only Martyn Corrin otherwise emerged out of the twenties. The top order performed well enough to score 167-2, but half of the remainder of the lineup perished for single figures.
Camps took 5-24 and Fuller 5-39 and the Greens were all out for 222. Boosted by his bowling heroics, Fuller took his place at the top of the order for the first time this season. The openers got off to a careful start of 44 runs, then Fuller was run out due to an ill-advised call by Camps. The wicket triggered a small collapse including Dinu DeSilva (5) and Luke Tyson (3) in quick succession. Camps evidenced guilt for the run out of Fuller by scoring 56 off 45 balls from the point of his dismissal. He raced through to 52 off 52 balls by cutting Paddy Gundry for a boundary. At 85 off 74 balls Camps finally surrendered, skying a catch to Corrin at deep midwicket. Stephen Young (2), Thamba Mamesh (14) and Brendan Taylor (9) all fell cheaply but stayed long enough to help Pete Young address the target.
Young clobbered a Gundry no ball over deep midwicket for six and smacked the ensuing free hit to midoff without scoring. The offstump needed to be replaced after Cunningham beat Taylor's defensive prod and split it in half. Travis Demeza took guard with four balls left in the over and 4 runs needed. He was beaten twice and allowed to leave the ball outside offstump twice. Young faced 7 of the next 9 balls and handed the strike back to his captain with a 2 runs needed. A full length delivery was lofted back over Cunningham's head and the batsmen scampered through for an emphatic victory.
