Thought it so odd seeing 4 Natalians in Muthusamy, Simmonds, E Bosch and Dupavillon all playing for PC against their hometown team 😂
The crowd definitely were more receptive of Muthusamy taking wickets than anyone else against DSG. He was the Dolphins key man for a few seasons. Dupavillon is also quite popular around here so he got a cheer when he came on to bowl.

Interesting you picked that up re: the crowd and new sets of fans. It's what we want though. Crowds and the buzz have been fantastic again. Graeme Smith + franchise owners/teams have done a magnificent job. Was watching Skysports Podcast with Athers & Nass with Graeme Smith. It's so true that it's bringing back memories of Benson & Hedges days with the crowds.

Can watch here:

I watched this yesterday. Hearing Smith speak makes you understand why he was such a good captain even if he was tactically a little conservative. I like how he pushed back on the idea of SA being underserved WTC finalists. In a cycle where West Indies beat Aus in Aus and Bangladesh whitewashed Pakistan, it probably bugs him that people still undermine winning in both those countries on their way to 7 wins in a row.

My last comment on the DSG vs Capitals game is that it is quite apparent spin is going to play a role at Kingsmead. I think Subrayen might get a gig quite soon.

Almost certainly. Thought the game was done with Kesh & Noor not striking in their first overs but you saw what Sen, Livingstone and Jacks did for PC. Ball was gripping.

All-rounders (loose definition for the modern game but impactful) for SA to try make a name for themselves.

Linde
Muthusamy
Fortuin
Simmonds

M Jansen
Mulder
C Bosch
Potgieter
Galiem
Swanepoel
E Bosch
Jones
M Pretorius
Phehlukwayo

Got guys like Simelane, Boast, CJ King & Whitehead to keep developing. De Swardt isn't bad in the longer format too.

I’m very much coming around to viewing T20 cricket differently from the other formats. What is needed from a player, especially an allrounder is very different from what is needed in the longer formats. T20 is about match ups and that’s why I think Linde and Jansen are our two best all rounders. Both can bowl at any stage and be moved up and down the order at will.

Players like Muthusamy and Mulder perform particular roles very well in this format but Mulder is hittable if there is nothing in the pitch and Muthusamy is a slow starter with the bat at times. I wouldn’t consider someone like Phelukwayo a good T20 allrounder because he has never done anything with the bat in this format has he?

I agree. Linde & Marco > the rest.

If Corbin is likely to play more it will be here & 50-overs.

Sen & Wiaan are grabbing anything they can I reckon because they are better in the longer formats but growing their T20 games.

Delano also can be hittable but it's a balance off because on his day he could step it up with the ball & can be so devastating with the bat. I've always been perplexed how with his game that he hasn't shone enough in white ball but more in red ball.

Galiem, E Bosch & Swanepoel are in a category because I think bowling is their primary weapon without being quick but they have good skills sets & then can walk in & smash it. Although I don't think Galiem is as consistent with the bat as the other 2.

Jones is pure impact in both disciplines. Not sure what you gonna get but at 6ft5 he can touch the 140s and smash at 200SR

I was being kind including Phehlukwayo 😁 But just also highlights how others haven't been given a fair chance or opportunity.
