Yikes. Makes for an ugly read. I hope the new regime can turn things around, but, like I said, I doubt we honestly have requiste quality (especially in the backs) to seriously challenge. The way I see the autumn going is we'll get thumped by NZ first up, beat Argentina & SA, then run NZ closer in the 2nd test and that will be hailed as some kind of victory, despite it being pretty much the same set of results as we've had for the last two autumn series. 8-)

As it was Robbo's managment team, by and large, it does make you wonder why he's still (nominally at least) the head coach? I personally think it has everything to do with the RFU not wanting to pay out his contract.

Wellington have just defeated Canterbury 36-23 in the first Quarter Final of the Air New Zealand Cup.

Also congratulations to the ACT Brumbies who won the Australian Provincial Championship a few weeks back.

Great stuff. Didn't see a minute of it, as I was out watching cricket, but the score was certainly a shock.

BBC up that Cipriani kid's ****, atm. Anyone know if he's actually any good?
He's certainly the annointed one. Saw him briefly in an age-group World Cup (Under 19s, possibly) & he looks like he has all the raw materials, good step & a decent pass, but will need to fill out a bit for mine. The days of the ten-stone-dripping-wet stand-off are over.

I actually quite like the idea. I may be one of few, though.

I like the idea too, but i can't see NZ wanting Australian teams playing in their NPC. It would have no real advantage to them, as their competition is already nearly as strong as Super 14 and it would only be giving Australian another hand up. Which they already did when they started the Super 12/14.

Yeah, that's true.

To be honest, I'd like to see the South African teams in the Super 14 replaced by other nations state teams.

The way it'd work, is say, one year the top 4/5 state/provincial teams from places like Argentina, France, England, Canada and South Africa come and play in our Super 14. Instead of our teams travelling half way around the world, they'll get based in some of the capital cities.

Probably too complicated and may clash with their own schedules, but it'd make a nice change. This way we'd be able to see more of the other nations rugby than jsut the occasional international that happens now and then (apart from the world cup)
