so many all rounders because they know 1 will at least get injured at 1 point
You guys have a good World Cup.
We (West Indies) will not be participating. Watching from the sidelines...
No shortage of all rounders in that squad,
Lol Marnus getting dropped for that slow 5th test ashes innings I see. But honestly don’t think his game is that well suited for the shorter formatsAustralia's preliminary World Cup squad: Pat Cummins (c), Sean Abbott, Ashton Agar, Alex Carey, Nathan Ellis, Cameron Green, Aaron Hardie, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Tanveer Sangha, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, David Warner, Adam Zampa.
A lot of Australia's best ODI batsmen happen to be all rounders so I could see why it would look like thatNo shortage of all rounders in that squad, although seems like it's a batsman or two short.
That they have several such "batsmen" who can bowl just as well -provides a huge advantage to Australia in this World Cup.A lot of Australia's best ODI batsmen happen to be all rounders so I could see why it would look like that
Marsh, Maxwell, Stoinis & Green are all there for their batting, but just happen to be all rounders. Hardie probably in that group as well. I can't think of any specialist batsmen we have in domestic that would be better bats than any of them. Marnus isnt
Daniel Hughes has consistently put up great numbers in the 1-day format. However he'd have to open (which is taken really) and his time has come and gone I would imagine. Otherwise the squad really picked itselfA lot of Australia's best ODI batsmen happen to be all rounders so I could see why it would look like that

Yeah Hughes, much like Khawaja, has been a victim of the Warner/Finch combo being so cemented in.Daniel Hughes has consistently put up great numbers in the 1-day format. if Stoinis is good enough with his batting then how bad are the rest of them lol he doesn’t even have a 50 in yearsA lot of Australia's best ODI batsmen happen to be all rounders so I could see why it would look like that

Thought you'd be a big fan of his Strayan alpha manly man demeanour tbh (which is incidentally what he gets selected for)Stoinis is not good enough with anything. He shouldn't be anywhere near the squad. But it's his batting that he is (mistakenly) selected for
I'm surprised whenever he plays a List A game and doesn't ton up these days.Daniel Hughes has consistently put up great numbers in the 1-day format. However he'd have to open (which is taken really) and his time has come and gone I would imagine. Otherwise the squad really picked itself
Would be great to have an actual spare batsman in the squad instead of Stoinis. At this rate, surely Stoinis is a vibes-based selection. I rate him though, I'm sure he'll come good at some point during the WC.
