Yeah, but unifying the belts is not a good idea, IMO
Needs to be handled carefully for sure. I can see why they would perhaps want to make this move though, the Smackdown brand is decidedly weaker than RAW at the moment in terms of star power, and I don't think putting the WHC on upper midcarders over and over again will do the prestige of the title a lot of good. Jack Swagger's title run earlier in the year for example didn't really do him any favours at all, in fact it just wasn't very good fullstop imo.

You're wrong, Swagger's title run was awesome. Every week when he had the belt he was really entertaining, in fact until the Nexus came along he was the best thing on TV.

When he lost the belt he seemed to run out of opponents after some cracking matches with Rey Rey, so he's going through the motions, but once Taker's freed up, they could possibly feud.

Don't see how having the belt did him no good, as he now gets called 'a former world champion' how does that not sound good?

Agreed. I don't think it's a good idea because it's detrimental in creating new main event stars. With only one top championship it gets harder for guys in the upper mid card to aim for that main event spot.

It would be pretty tough to win a WWE Championship with guys like John Cena, Triple H, Randy Orton and The Undertaker still in the company. Not many guys in the upper mid card bracket would have a chance to break out.

Having just the WWE Championship worked back in the 90's because the WWE had a much smaller roster and guys could go to WCW if they so wanted. If you're going to have two brands you need two brand champions.

I just found it very underwhelming tbh.
Why, exactly?

His promos as champion were gold, and he delivered great matches, regardless of the results.

"If I suck then why do I have a sandwich named after me? It's called the Swaggie and it's delicious. It tastes like freedom."

Plus he beat Orton clean on PPV, no mean feat.

Yeah that's true, and to give him his due I had forgotten about some of his promos and the Orton win. However, somehow the whole thing just didn't work for me and I'm not really sure why. He just didn't seem like a World Champion to me somehow....dunno. Maybe if I rewatched a load of it I might feel differently, I just remember it didn't grab me somehow. If I watch him now it doesn't really seem to me that he is a great deal different to what it was like watching him a year ago. But then again I haven't really been the most avid watcher this year, so I've probably missed a fair bit, so will pay particular attention to him over the coming weeks. On a side note, looking forward to Smackdown this week tstl.

In summary, you're a ****

And live Smackdown, so exciting. Shame I have to get up early tomorrow, staying up anyway.

1am I believe
Guess I'll V+ it and wake up early, I'm going to York on Saturday and don't think I can wait until Sunday to watch it. Will have to stop myself from reading the results, wrestling is so much better when you haven't read the results, obviously.

Yeah, I never check spoilers ever, hence why I despise sledger

It's nice to have a Smackdown for once where there is no risk of spoilers :)

That first Morrison one is great. Remember going "wow" at the time. Quite enjoying this street running gimmick (or whatever it is called) thing they have going for him at the moment.
