Just finished watching Smackdown. Alberto Del Rio is a future star.
He's alright as he's kind of got the Mexican JBL gimmick. He comes out in a Rolls Royce rather than JBL's limo and has got Christian's 'rain' pyro from 2001. In the ring he seems decent enough, although I was disappointed in his live promo against Rey Mysterio.

His taped vignette's were really good but you can go through a number or re takes before getting your promo right. When he was delivering his promo live, he wasn't that great. But overall I'm still looking forward to seeing more of him, he's got potential and should be at least in the Intercontinental Championship race soon enough.

Shame they didn't keep the mask on him imo, thought he would be used as the natural replacement for Rey once he packs in. (Though having just checked on Wiki, he's actually a lot older than I thought, and only slightly younger than Rey himself).

Just messing Manee ftr, although I didn't come back in the thread until I finished watching just in case :p

Good show tonight.

Kane's promo was surprisingly excellent, loved the justification for the feud and it made sense.

Liked Alberto Del Rio, enjoyed his match and what a way to put a guy over.

Also love what they are doing with the midcard, relevant feuds not for the title, loving Dashing Cody Rhodes.

Very good Smackdown overall, looks like things are going to step up now with the SyFy move on the radar.

Disagree with that. I think because Alberto Del Rio is a big guy and has that Mexcian JBL or Chris Jericho look I can't see Vince McMahon wanting to put on a mask to conceal his facial expressions and thus reduce his appeal.

Plus I think they've already got a replacement for Rey Mysterio lined up in FCW. WWE did sign Mexican star Mystico who has been widely known as the next Rey Mysterio. He wrestles in a mask, does some amazing stuff in the ring and currently wrestles for FCW as Hunico. So I think he would be the next logical replacement for Rey Mysterio.

I fast forwarded Kane's promo. Watched a bit at the start, thought it was the same old crap. Smackdown's always generally solid without being spectacular.

Ah I liked the fact that his reasoning made sense for a change, rather than blabla monster bla

Thought Kane's promo was fantastic personally, although a bit bewildered by the whole background music thing. I mean it served it's purpose for the ambiance, but for mine that sort of thing doesn't really work in wrestling, not for live promo's anyway. But yeah considering the length of it I thought it was great, the only thing I didn't like was that grisham no sold it and went on about how he was just bringing 'Taker's wrath on his head, would have much preferred it if they built Kane up as the psycho he once was.

Del Rio was great, his facial expressions were class. Definitely has the look of a star imho, his flying armbar move was sweet as well.

Been a fan of Cody Rhodes since I saw him talking about Dusty during his HoF induction. The only thing I'm having an issue with is his music, can't decide if I like it or if it is extremely annoying. The lyrics get stuck in my head. :(

Also, was watching some Lashley interviews for his fight tomorrow night and randomly decided to find a clip of this again today, still one of my all time favourite wrestling spots.

I love Joey Styles.

Yep, to me that match defines The Rock.

Yep he had tremendous matches with Austin, Triple H, Foley etc. But I'll always remember him losing clean to Lesnar because its what the company wanted.

Also remember the build up videos of them training. Lesnar with a massive log ftw.
