Am very dubious about this being a work tbh. In other circumstances I would have said it was a work...but to have him involved on the big NXT angle only then for him to be fired for no apparent reason straight afterwards seems odd. It wouldn't really fit kayfabe if he had been fired for his actions in the NXT invasion, and all of the rest of the NXT guys remained unfired. Similarly if he was supposedly going to make a comeback as a face later down the line I imagine he would have been "fired" before the NXT invasion even started. Very bad news it seems. Such a shame. Hope I'm wrong. They did however name him as Daniel Bryan and Brian Danielson in their release statement, which again suggests that this is a legit firing. However, if memory serves me correctly they did this when Chris Jericho was "fired" by Stephanie McMahon sometime last year or whenever it was....so fingers crossed...

From ewrestlingnews:

The word within WWE is that the firing of Bryan Danielson is a legit firing. All of the higher ups within WWE were informed of the firing before the item was posted on WWE.com. While the timing of the release is interesting, working Donna Goldsmith and Michelle Wilson on a wrestling angle is hard to believe. This appears legit and he's gone.

Danielson posted the following on his Twitter last night… Just changed my twitter name to Bryan Danielson. The winds of change are stirring.
Pretty surprising if they have fired him. Thought they were setting him up to be a big star in the company. Who knows.

One thing I've heard is that it is a legit firing, of sorts, but that basically they have agreed with him to re-sign him once the execs cool off over the tie-choke thing. I dunno. Generally in wrestling if there's debate over whether something is a work or a shoot, it's a work. We'll see.

If this is a legitimate firing and if WWE was to offer Bryan Danielson another contract I would hope that he doesn't go for the WWE contract. This is a farce and it's a betrayal of sorts. How could they have fired Bryan for doing his job and doing it well?

The message this sends out to wrestlers is that there is no way you should show some originality in order to sell a storyline to the audience. No wonder the WWE is full of cookie cutter type characters and things have gotten so stale.

Also the tie choking thing is just bull****. Didn't John Cena choke out Randy Orton with a metal chain at a recent PPV? I also recall JBL choking out Chris Jericho during their feud in 2008. If this is legitimate, then you have to feel for Bryan as he was only doing his job.

Even if they do offer him another contract, they don't deserve to have him on their roster. I hope Bryan Danielson goes to TNA and propels them to the next level. Imagine what TNA could do with all this buzz that's been created by Bryan's release. I would also love to see him compete against Kurt Angle, Samoa Joe, Nigel McGuinness and AJ Styles.

Bryan Danielson is too good a talent to not make his mark in a major wrestling promotion. If it's not WWE, I certainly hope it's TNA and I think he will be a great addition to their roster.

Do you think it is legit mb?
I have no idea but I'm leaning towards it being a legitimate firing. The way that the release notice was written on the website, the reports online and the fact that they never really liked Bryan Danielson in the first place is making me lean towards it being legitimate.

But I wouldn't be surprised if this was a storyline and if in this case it is, it's a bloody brilliant one that has got everyone talking. But seriously with how stupid the WWE is at times, I don't think they are smart enough to pull off such a complex storyline like this.

I don't understand why they wouldn't warn him? Unless there is specific instructions to all wrestlers not to do what he did, I don't understand how it could possibly be a sackable offence.

Linda's running for the Senate, and these are the kind of things that could get used against her.

Not like she's not going to get destroyed anyway, but yeah.

I imagine it's not the fact that it was a choking that is the problem, but more the fact that he did it on someone who isn't likely to have a lot of in ring training (if any). I remember Cryme Tyme got fired for something similar (albeit in totally different circumstances) a few years ago.

John Cena has commented on his twitter account about the Bryan Danielson release.

"I am very upset to hear about the release of bryan danielson. Social networks were formed so people would have a voice, and an opinon. I Know you all have your own, theories and whatnot. I respect that. I have never asked any of you to feel a certaint way about me. But Bryan left a lasting impression on the wwe universe in a very short time, and although it came at my expense, I agree with the majority Of you who are caught off guard by this choice. I know I'm not exactly appreciated by all, nor do I care to be, but I believe what I believe. I would like bryan to come back to the wwe. I would like to sign your petition to bring him back. I was taught to stand up for what I beileve in. I tried and failed, so I could Use some help. Tell me how to sign and I will. If for nothing else, to at least have a chance to have a match with him after what was done I know that seems a bit more fair. Give me a chance to have a fair match with him, and give him yet another chance to prove that he does Belong with us. Sorry for the long message, I know I am probally way out of line, I am sorry if I have offended anyone. But like me or not That is what Hustle. Loyalty. And most importantly Respect means to me. Enjoy game 5."

This is really interesting. With Cena agreeing to sign a petition, this really does now look more like an elaborate storyline. Bryan Danielson updated his twitter account as well and spoke about his release.

"Biding my time, waiting for the right moment to speak."

I wonder if the right time is on Raw. After all this, I still don't really know what to make of it. I'm still probably leaning towards it being a legitimate firing but it's now looking possible that it could be a storyline.

What is most intriguing, if this is a kayfabe firing, is how the WWE are encouraging fans to root for and support a member of what appears to be a heel faction.

So here is the thing. I can't watch Raw because I've got an exam in the morning. Do I check the results in the morning or youtube it after my exam, risking thinking about WWE when I should be thinking about trig...

Decisions, decisions.

Man this is all awesome, definitely going to be watching RAW live tonight to see how this goes.

Have a question for those of you who've been keeping up with the 'E lately, what exactly is the deal with NXT? I wasn't aware that they were going to pretty much start a new season as soon as the last one finished. Are they planning to make it just a weekly show like RAW and Smackdown with this reality show theme or what? Surely they will end up running out of decent prospects to actually bring in after a while. What exactly is going on with that show?

Still find it interesting though, I caught the first episode of the new series by chance on saturday. Stoked that Low Ki is finally getting his shot on the WWE, awesome wrestler can't wait to see him in action. They should bring back Danielson just to wrestle him, because that would be a crazy good match. For the other guys on NXT that crazy black guy with the glasses was hilarious I thought. also, maybe it's just me, but I thought that Huskey Harris guy they were all taking the piss out of was by far the best worker who wrestled on that first show, I thought he was really good. Looked a lot more natural in there than some of them, like that 7 foot freak and the angry one managed by Zac Ryder. Hope he doesn't get chucked out because he's a bit chubby.

To answer your question, this series of NXT is stated to run for 12 weeks, which takes us to about two or three weeks before Smackdown moves over to SyFy. My guess is that after this series that will be it for NXT, I dunno whether they'll just go down to three shows a week or come up with something else on a different network. Can't see them squeezing another 8 from FCW that are ready for TV just yet.
