Haha really have no idea tbh, was just a quote I picked up from a news site.

On a side note, I was thinking about this after our conversation last night, but does anyone know how it was possible for Big Bossman to be hanged from the raised Hell in a Cell after his match with Undertaker at WM15 without him actually dying? I've never worked out how they managed to pull the stunt off safely. It also crossed my mind that apart from the main event it was a pretty crap card.

15 was pretty poor when you consider that it came in one of WWF's most successful years. The following year's mania was a letdown as well, given that it was a year of great PPVs.

Actually though, a lot of the cards in the 98/99 period are pretty disappointing, kind of the opposite tom WCW in the same period. WWF would have an amazing main event scene and an average undercard, WCW would have some immense lower card matches and then make a balls up of their main event scene.

Then in 2000 WWF got an awesome lower and midcard as well, with an exciting tag division and Jericho/Benoit/Angle shaking up the midcard, and that was pretty much it for WCW.

Summerslam tonight then folks...it's been completely overshadowed for me by events elsewhere, nonetheless I have friends coming round for beer, pizza and wrestling tonight (well actually they are coming for the cricket in half an hour :D)

Here are my brief tips:

DX V Legacy
Unlike some I love DX being back, 'marked out' big time on Raw this week. I don't think Legacy will be buried but I don't think they will win either. Could be a good match if it's kept open, think DX have to get the win here really.

Orton V Cena
I'm bored of Orton as champion and I'd imagine a lot of people feel the same, he doesn't have amazing heel champion heat I reckon, in fact rather unusually he got more heat when he was the challenger. I think Triple H and Orton still will have a blowoff match down the line, they should take it away from the title scene. Giving Cena the belt gives us the chance to get him feuding with someone new to the scene (don't know who) and shake things up a bit, I think that's what they will do.

Jeff V Punk
This will be the match of the night I'm sure. All the rumours point to this being Jeff's last match and they certainly played on that on Smackdown. Of course, we all know that recent events, such as it being Matt not Christian who attacked Jeff Hardy, and Triple H winning at Wrestlemania, suggest that Vince likes to get one up on the internet. I hope we don't see a Matt Hardy heel turn here as I don't think it's necessary. If it's Jeff's last match then Punk will win, but I am not convinced it will be.

RMJ V Dolph Ziggler
This should be a really good match. Ziggler has been great in the last few months and I reckon he'll pick up a cheeky heel-style win here.

Christian V Regal
Interesting one, I think Regal can go to a really good match with Christian here but there is no chance Christian will be dropping the belt.

Cryme Tyme V Jericho & Big Show
Can't see Cryme Tyme winning this one, surely

Khali V Kane
:sleep1:

Jack Swagger V MVP
Looking forwards to this one, it should be a really good match. I fancy that Swagger will get the win, it's a shame that MVP hasn't got the fans behind him as he seemed set for a really good push. Swagger will be main eventing in a year's time and is highly regarded by those that matter, he'll pick up the win here.

I'm disappointed that Morrison, Miz, Bourne and the Harts aren't on the card but it should be a good show

I'm really looking forward to Summerslam this year. I think the WWE have done a decent job with building it up and some of the matches look pretty good this year.

DX V Legacy
Triple H and Shawn Michaels are always entertaining when they are a tag team and I think this is a great opportunity to make Legacy look credible and good. It doesn't mean that Legacy has to win but Triple H and Shawn Michaels have a responsibility to make them look credible. If I was booking, I would have this be a competitive match with Triple H and Shawn Michaels winning only for Legacy to deliver a beat down at the end of the match.

Orton V Cena
I agree with your assessment on Orton. He's getting stale as WWE Champion. Problem is, Cena is as stale as they come too. Although if Cena does become WWE Champion, I hope Triple H and Randy Orton stay as far away from the title scene as possible. I'd definitely like to see John Cena vs Jack Swagger at the next PPV even though it probably wouldn't happen. I'm tipping John Cena to win here but sadly it seems that Randy Orton will get his rematch at the next PPV.

Jeff V Punk
Not sure who will win this one but it'll be a great match. It will be sad to see Jeff Hardy leave if he is in fact leaving the WWE but it is understandable as his health comes first and by all accounts he's burned out by the WWE schedule. Apparently Jeff Hardy will be appearing on Smackdown this week and that Smackdown will be his last date with the company. I think Jeff Hardy is winning here only to lose the title to CM Punk or Matt Hardy on Smackdown.

Rey Mysterio V Dolph Ziggler
I think the time is right to give Dolph Ziggler the win here. A win for Dolph Ziggler could do huge things for him while it does nothing to Rey Mysterio who will still be over even if he loses the match. I'm picking Dolph Ziggler.

Christian V Regal
This should be a solid match with two very good wrestlers. Regal has momentum with his stable but I think Christian wins at Summerslam.

Cryme Tyme V Jericho & Big Show
Chris Jericho and The Big Show are pretty selfless and they wouldn't mind losing to Cryme Tyme. But Cryme Tyme aren't really ready yet to go to that level. I expect Jericho and Big Show to put over Cryme Tyme by having a competitive match but feel that Jericho and Big Show will retain their belts.

Khali V Kane
I'm expecting a short match here with Khali winning.

Jack Swagger V MVP
This match could be pretty decent. Jack Swagger works well with good wrestlers, but he needs a veteran or a leader to work well with as he's still pretty young. MVP too needs to work with veterans so it'll be interesting to see how two young stars fare on their own. It doesn't really matter who wins this one, but I'm expecting a Jack Swagger victory that hopefully translates into either a United States Championship match or a WWE Championship match.

Been ages since I posted here, had to trawl through a few pages. Good stuff though, this thread makes me think back to wrestling forums I've been on and laugh at how a bunch of cricket blokes so easily >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> IWC imho. Love it.

Anyway yeah just thinking that if they actually deign to give Regal and Christian more than 4 minutes it'll be a god damn awesome match for mine, although I am probably slightly biased 'cause I'm a giant mark for Regal. I hope he does get given the ECW belt at some point down the line, blatantly never gonna be a contender for the belts on the other WWE brands and he deserves some sort of major title run for being such a gun for WWE for so many years, as well as his stuff in WCW. One of my favourite wrestling moments of all times, hell, I can't even remember the time or the place or who he was wrestling, I just remember there was a tag match going on in WCW on a random episode of Nitro back when they used to show it on Cable here. Regal got tagged in when the opponent was in the corner and the cameraman was right behind the corner as well and Regal saunters over and just screams YOU BLOODY TART into the dudes face before Irish whipping him. Pissed myself itbt was god damn genius, think that's the moment Regal became one of my favourites. Always love it when you've got all these "hard men" in wrestling and then Regal just coming out with stuff like "you little toerag." Such a great worker as well, back when he was in Booker T's stable and was working a lot against Benoit and Finlay were some of my favourite matches ever, have random episodes of smackdown saved just for those matches.

And yeah I still remember that promo Ric Flair was cutting on someone on RAW a few years back where he was going on about how he'd had his time at the top in the business, some people who were good would have their time and then some people like Regal would never get the chance. Still resonates with me now, considering some of the awful **** WWE has pushed at main event level over the past few years how it was a total blag for Regal. Give him the ECW title and a little heel champion run, deserves it imho. Not at Summerslam tho obv, but hopefully somewhere down the line.

Also could have sworn I posted this ages ago when you asked but yeah Sledge I live about an hour away from the Penzance area, at least I think it's about that anyway.

What really bugs me about tonights PPV is that the main event is apparently going to be the DX vs Legacy match, which if true, is a load of rubbish. The main event, without question should be the TLC match. If DX were facing anyone that was slightly over I would understand this, but Legacy have been buried for weeks and weeks and weeks now, so this will bring the crowd down massively from anything that goes before it. Just hope that I have been misinformed.

Haha fair enough, I was going to be heading down in the next week or so, but turns out I can't afford it. Will let you know next time and I can kick your ass at Halo ;) . Will also get my xbox live membership sorted sometime soon as well, as I have a connection for the 360 now.

Decent PPV, underwhelming in parts, kick ass ending which I called to my mate but unfortunately there is no post saying so so just take my word for it. Not gonna post any spoilers in case anyone hasn't seen it, will post review tomorrow. Decent, not great, IMO

Largely in agreement with GIMH, not a bad event, not great, apart from the main event there wasn't really a match I cared about. Shame that Christian and Regal got hardly anytime for their match whatsoever. Pleased that the DX return was not the main event, but the end of the show was awesome, good stuff.

I'm largely in agreement with you both. It was a decent show, nothing special but decent enough. There were a few great matches on the show and some were underwhelming. CM Punk vs Jeff Hardy was awesome. The Jeff Hardy swanton bomb off the 20 foot ladder was insane. These two put on a hell of a show and it was great to see Undertaker return. I can't wait for a CM Punk vs Undertaker feud.

Speaking of CM Punk, I have no doubt now that he is the best young wrestler in the world today. His promo today with Josh Matthews where he looked down upon people blindly following television and movie stars and how America's intelligence is on a rapid downward spiral was just tremendous. He's a real natural when it comes to his promos and doesn't come across as forced at all. His in ring work is superb as well and he's got a lot of intensity and athleticism in the ring that few can match. He's definitely one of my favourite performers in WWE.

The Christian vs William Regal match was really disappointing. Had they given this even 10 minutes, it would've been an awesome match. I guess they are setting up for Christian vs Regal at Breaking Point, but this could've been so much more. I guess they had to spend 20 minutes on a pretty pointless DX enterance. DX vs Legacy went on too long but to be fair to DX, they made Legacy look credible out there.

Randy Orton vs John Cena was a monumental stuff up. Lillian stuffed up her announcing, the match was an overbooked mess and the crowd who were so into the match at the start were completely drained after the match was restarted so many times. I don't know what the point was of having the match restarted so many times but it made Cena and Orton look really bad. I think the fan who ran in was a wrestler, could be somebody who is the next Legacy member.

Rey Mysterio vs Dolph Ziggler was a good match to start things off and Cryme Tyme were really impressive in their match with Jericho and Big Show. Jericho and Big Show even though they won really helped make Cryme Tyme look credible out there. I thought JTG did a great job.

Overall I enjoyed the show. It wasn't the best PPV ever but it was decent enough. The best thing coming out this show is definitely CM Punk vs The Undertaker so that seems like the next big feud on Smackdown.

Haha probably, not sure whether or not taht will be a good or bad thing tbh. Legacy in theory should have been an awesome stable, but all of the members including Orton have been made to look very poor as a result of it's creation, Ending it now would end months of stupid burials and could help to get Rhodes and DiBiase back on track, but it would also make the last couple of months totally pointless. WWE has really failed when booking for this group of guys.

Not really the greatest time to talk about Legacy being buried endlessly after they were made to look like stars by DX at SummerSlam from all accounts.

Yeah true, but look at what has gone on beforehand for the last several months, since the stables incarnation in fact. They may not have been buried, in this match, but they still lost.

Once again, WWE is considering new themes for future PPV events. They have issued a survey to select fans, asking them their thoughts on the following PPV themes:

* Street Fight Event: All main events will be no DQ street fights.

* Tournament Event: A Single elimination tournament, where the WWE superstars will compete multiple times to win a tournament.

* Tables, Ladders and Chairs Event: All main events will be TLC matches.
Groan, this sounds dire, would love to see a King of the Ring style event come back though, always liked that PPV, but the rest of these events just sound stupid and annoying. If they keep this up they will have too many gimmick themed events and the matches will totally lose their appeal and mystique, dire.

# At last night's WWE Smackdown tapings, Jeff Hardy lost a loser leaves WWE cage match to World Champion CM Punk.

# Jeff Hardy has been told by WWE management that the door is always open for him to return to the company. They also told him that if they could help him with any of his outside projects, such as his band Peroxwhy?gen or his potential reality show, that they would gladly work him into their "synergy".

# Hardy explained that that he was not leaving the company due to unhappiness. He simply wants time off of the road, so that he can do things at his own pace.

# Most feel that it will be when, not if for his return. The feeling is that his departure is similar to Chris Jericho's a few years ago. Jericho left to work on acting and music projects, and then returned to the company, and with a more prominent position.

# Hardy has received a ton of praise for his final months with the company. The feeling is that he helped bring CM Punk to a new level in the company, and now Punk is a legit force to go against the Undertaker, which will cement his position on the Smackdown side of things. It is thought that Hardy helped with Punk's evolution to one of, if not the top heel in the company.
Seeya Jeff, as I have said before, shame he is going out just as he has really reached the very top of the company, but I can't blame him for wanting out for a while, and he has done a top job of putting CM Punk over (as well as numerous others) since his return to the company, so all in all I wish him all the best and hope he returns one day, WWE has generally been a lot more interesting for having him in it, so I just hope it's not the last we see of him.

Oh god, I hope they never put his band anywhere near television. I love Jeff and all, he is a gun but god damn his band sucks and he is the worst singer in the history of the universe.

It's a shame that Jeff Hardy had to leave but it's good to see a wrestler knowing themselves and walking away to have a break. While I've never been a really big Jeff Hardy fan as I've always been more of a Matt Hardy fan I think his recent work in the WWE has been the best in his career.

He has really helped establish CM Punk as one of the top heels in the WWE and has had consistently good matches. I hope he has a break, recharges his batteries and when the time is right he could very well come back to the WWE.
