My thoughts on X-Pac are well-documented so I won't comment, but I watched the same episode of Vintage Collection, some good stuff. The Rey-Malenko match was from the 96 bash yeah? Rey's debut I believe. Malenko was boring as a personality, but the guy knew how to wrestle.

Just watched Raw. Passable. Decent main event, predictable ending. Enjoyed the Million Dollar Man, though him getting cheered just doesn't seem right at all! The Dibiase-Orton split and feud is coming along nicely, I'm guessing that'll all kick off good style after Triple H and Orton have their Summerslam blow-off.
I think the DiBiase/Orton split would be good were it not for the fact that Rhodes and DiBiase are just not at all credible, I think what they are looking to do here is a kind of similar thing to when Orton himself got kicked out of evolution, but as DiBiase and Rhodes have spent the last few months getting their asses handed to them on a regular basis the whole thing just doesn't have that much heat imo, dissapointingly so.

Anyone in these unknown waters seen the documentary Monday Night War? I watched it at a friend's house yesterday, it's properly fascinating.

Yeah was definitely an interesting watch. A bit skewed too much in the WWE's favour IMO, but that's what you'd expect I guess considering they made the DVD.

I'll always be a fan of Bischoff though.

Yeah, think I commented on it a couple of weeks back. There are some outright lies told, and they hurry over some periods of time too much (including 2000, which surprises me as I thought they'd have enjoyed sticking the boot in) but it is very enjoyable.

I find the light shed on that particular period of time by some wrestlers is quite interesting actually, in Chris Jericho's book he gives a lowdown on how Hogan/Nash/Hall pretty much did whatever the hell they wanted in terms of stroylines and Bischoff just let them get away with it. Various other things in there as well to show how shoddily managed WCW was in a lot of ways, I know there are a lot of things wrong with the way Vince McMahon deals with certain things but some of the stuff going down in WCW was just totally stupid and out of order in some places.

What were the outright lies?

I loved Bischoff's attempts to discredit WWE. The commentators calling it the "World Whiny Federation" cracked me up because it was so ridiculously dire.

Off the top of my head, Vince saying that he owned what would become WCW is the one that stands out. You could argue that he is sort of technically correct, but he was being economical with the truth at best, and basically lying at worst. I've got little bro coming round tomorrow and I think he wants to watch it so I'll post back some of the ones that stand out.

Loved the way it made out that the only reason people started watching WCW when nash and Hall joined was because they were "confused but interested".

Don't get me wrong, I think it's a great DVD, just that it's a WWE DVD so you've basically got Vinnie's side of the story, and edited quotes from Bish and Cornette

Just finished watching ECW and Ezekiel Jackson was looking really good tonight and I couldn't help but think that in the next 2 to 2 and a half years he'll be around the main event scene.

Nice podcast on ESPN with Bill Simmons and Dave Meltzer here. Talks mainly about UFC reaching 100 but they talk quite a bit about the parallels between the rise of MMA and WWE and the impact the UFC has on the WWE and vice versa.

EDIT: Actually they start talking a lot about the WWE over the past decade, half way through. There's plenty of stuff for WWE fans there.

It wouldn't surprise me if he is either, but I would take exception to you calling him "really good", the guy is pretty damn mediocre in ring.

Awesome finisher, but.

He's probably the biggest guy in terms of muscle since Lesnar. Would say he's at least as big as Lashley, and sounds meaner too.

Well tbf i was saying on the night which he was going up against a jobber and I agree with some work he'll be a lot better in the ring.

I reckon he is much bigger than Lashley he was absolutely ripped

^That's dire

Smackdown was quality last night, Morrison and Ziggler had a really good match, Ziggler gets another clean win (holding the tights stopped being a dirty win around 91 IIRC) and finishes the show standing over Mysterio, excellent. Morrison looked great again though, that loss won't matter I shouldn't think.

Watching Y2J & Edge bummed me out though, it was looking like such a hot storyline. Wonder what's gonna happen now :(

Smackdown was awesome. Rey Mysterio vs Chris Jericho was one of the best matches on Smackdown in recent memory. Really liking Dolph Ziggler as well. He reminds me of Mr Perfect and an old school Jeff Jarrett. The loss for Morrison doesn't mean much but the win for Ziggler will do great things for him.

I disagree Seth Green is awesome and I think he can do some great stuff in his short role.

And on the Tag Titles I've heard that Edge is going to give his half of the title to Dolph Ziggler

Brock Lesnar pounded Frank Mir's face into mush and then cut one of the best promo's i've ever seen. He is a nutcase and it is hilarious.

sorry was a slightly related note, carry on normal service

It was brilliant. If only he showed that type of personality when he was in the WWE. Would've been the greatest heel of all time. Anyone who saw the Countdown and heard the **** Mir said about Brock pre match knew something like this was coming from miles away. The post maych was insane.

It's incredible, supposed "hardcore" fans are now crying saying they'll never watch another PPV with Brock headlining but the fact is he's the biggest PPV draw of all time now and more and more people will keep buying them. He's decimated their Heavyweight division, White may finally have to give in and bring in that Super Heavyweight division to accomodate him because anyone else is toast next to Brock. The welterweight division could be more of a problem for Dana as GSP has made everyone there look like a bitch, no-one's beating him there for a few more years it seems. There are going to be so many more butthurt MMA hardcores watching this fake ass bloke dominate their sport.

Brilliant PPV from top to bottom, the prelims and Maincard delivered on the UFC's biggest stage of all. So excited about the sport's future, this is a juggernaut.

EDIT: But um, as you guys were....
