Welcome Lance to Cricketweb. It's great to know that your first post on these boards was in the ever so great Wrestling Thread :D

My favourite midcard match? Well I'd say British Bulldog vs. Bret Hart at Summerslam 1992 for the IC title, but the thing is, since that event was in England, it was the main event of the show so its not exactly a 'mid card' match :p

Chris Benoit vs. Chris Jericho Ladder Match for the IC Title at the Royal Rumble 2001 sticks out in my head as one of my favourites, along with Bret Hart vs. Rowdy Roddy Piper at Wrestlemania 8.
Thanks for the welcome :D

I recall the Jericho vs Benoit match well, as I have seen it a few times. I'm sure that's the one where Benoit did the crazy spot, with a dive to the outside straight into Jericho's waiting chair shot? Anyway, any Benoit, Jericho or Angle match is bound to be a classic while vsing each other, no matter which 2 it is, or 3 :D

I know. How awesome is that DVD? They go ALL OUT with no bullsh*t.

Vince McMahon, Eric Bischoff and Paul Heyman all working for the same company, and yet we see so much crap. They've all made their fair share of mistakes and stupid angles, but have all equally been responsible for pure brilliance. Bischoff and the nWo, Vince with Hogan & Austin and Heyman with the extreme style which was foreign to everyone at the time.

I really wish they actually did a proper angle between all of them. The Invasion bombed big time because the WWE made the WCW and ECW guys look like crap, but just once I wanted all 3 of these men to have a staredown in the ring. Heyman's shoot promo to Vince in 2001 was absolutely off the charts, and I remember at the Rumble in 2004 when Heyman was GM of SD he and Bischoff had a staredown (and a silly brawl lol). But if they just had an all out shoot at each other, it'd make for some awesome television.
I just finished the whole documentary, and MAN that's the most complete documentary I've ever seen the WWE put out.

You just cannot believe that the WWE made/manufactured this dvd. Paul Heyman and the ECW gang left nothing out, and it's one of the best DVD Documentaries I've seen ever.

It just seemed so surreal, their journey from rags to riches and then back to rags again. It was also good to see Vince McMahon acknolwedge the hard work put in by Paul Heyman and co.

I loved the last words by Paul Heyman about sucess and failure. How right he was.

I'd give it a 9/10 rating, although I dont agree with their style of broadcasting and wrestling I still have a lot of respect for what they did and for what Paul Heyman did.

It was really, really enjoyable viewing.

Yeah that's the match. :)

Add Eddie Guerrero to those 3, and you've got the fantastic 4.

How great, yet extremely hilarious was the ending? Every guy interviewed was asked why ECW went bankrupt, and they all gave a similar reply saying 'mismanagement'. Yet when Heyman was asked, he bluntly blamed the TNN television network and claimed that if ECW got another TV deal they would still be running today.

I love Paul Heyman to bits, but the ending right there shows just how caught up Heyman was in his own creation. He was in denial.

Its such an honest DVD. So real. Sangrah I also recommend the Benoit and Guerrero DVDs. They're absolutely awesome as well. :D

This Week's Smackdown Spoilers Below

I just watched this week's SD on tape. I prefer to tape Raw and SD so I can fast forward the ads, otherwise I'll DL them off the net which usually have the ads cut out. Saves some time.

Anyway SD was nothing specatcular this week unfortunately. It can't hold a candlestick to how awesome Raw was. Eddie and Rey opened up the night defending the tag titles, but thats all we saw of them which sucks. When Eddie is only on the show for 10-15 minutes, you know the show is in trouble.

Angle didn't accept Michael's challenge, but didn't 'not accept' it either. He just threw down the mic when asked about it and walked off. I'm almost 100% positive he'll show up on Raw and cost Michaels the Street Fight against Edge. I hope this happens.

JBL's party thing was funny at the start (the ring and the posh folks were hilarious) but it went on for too long. Seriously I hate that these segments take like 15-20 minutes but Chavo only gets to wrestle for 5. It really sh*ts me.

The JBL vs. Cena feud heated up a little with the tag match (made during the JBL party thing) but for some odd reason it was more about JBL vs. Big Show. No idea what they're going to do with Show at Mania. Maybe a match against Orlando Jordan? *shrugs*

Undertaker vs. Jindrak & Luther Reigns sucked ass. Like major ass. Pointless match, and I think they're trying to turn Jindrak face since he and Luther got in a fight. When will the WWE realise that just because Jindrak has nice abs, it doesn't mean the fans give a crap about him.

Funnily enough I found the best moment of SD the Teddy Long & Carlito segment, when the decision as to whether Teddy Long will stay as GM was made. Carlito was great as usual, and Teddy got legitimate pops from the crowd when he was announced as still being GM by Linda McMahon. This mini-feud has actually been good, and with Teddy Long saying he's going to make Carlito's life a living hell, we could see the great Carlito back in action. Now that would be cool.

Hopefully SD will pick up dramatically when the Angle/Michaels feud heats up next week. That'll add a lot to the show. Until then SD is still lacklustre compared to Raw which is kicking ass. Why can't both shows be good at the same time? That hasn't happened since early 2004.

SmackDown is becoming a no go zone for me.

Lets hope they spice it up after WM21 and when they have that roster draft.

I think the key is getting Jericho to SD. He's doing absolutely nothing on Raw, and hasn't done anything of any note since his awesome Christian feud. He's rotting on Raw.

Jericho on SD would spice up the show heaps.

Agreed. send Jericho back to SmackDown and make him a contender for the WWE Championship.

SmackDown will be in deep trouble soon since Booker T and The Undertaker are under speculation that they both will retire very soon.

After losing the title to Batista it wouldn't be a bad idea to send Triple H over to SmackDown as well.

If I remember correctly when Triple H was on SmackDown in 2002 he was one of the most over people they had alongside Hogan, The Rock and Kurt Angle.

I would love to see another Triple H vs Kurt Angle match or even one last Triple H vs Undertaker feud.

Having Triple H and Jericho on SmackDown alongside Eddie Guerrero, Kurt Angle, Undertaker and Rey Mysterio would make SmackDown worth watching again.

Yeah, Hello to you as well.

Cena will become the WWE Champion after beating JBL at WM21 and hence he will be on SmackDown.

Hey Duffer, I've been meaning to tell you this for like 2 months now but I finally picked up the Eddie Guerrero DVD one day when I was at JB Hi Fi. It's frickin' awesome, and the feeling of nostalgia whilst watching is great  I also picked up the Rise And Fall Of ECW when I bought the Guerrero DVD too. That DVD is sooooooo awesome. The WCW Monday Night War DVD was good, but you could tell there was bias there. The ECW DVD goes all out letting Heyman say whatever he wants. There's swearing, tis all uncensored and its so funny seeing Bischoff and Heyman have a go at each other.

Next I need to get the RVD: One Of A Kind DVD, plus a few others. Have you heard if WWE - The Best of Intercontinental Championship Matches (2005) is any good? That seems like it would be awesome. Imagine what could be on that DVD. Randy Savage vs. Ricky Steamboat from Mania 3, Bret vs. Mr Perfect from Summerslam 91, Bret vs. Piper from Mania 8, Bret vs. Bulldog from Summerslam 92, Razor Ramon vs. Shawn Michaels from Mania 10, Rock vs. Triple H from Summerslam 98... the list goes on.
-Superb weren't they?Eddie's DVD has an excellent story, but the matches really blow you away. I was a bit disappointed that they left his matches from Japan out, but maybe they couldn't afford to buy the rights from New Japan or the other feds he wrestled in. Seeing Eddie at his ****y-sleazy heel best was awesome and the WCW matches brought a lot of memories back to me. Also did you see the Hair vs Mask Tag match he had on there with Love Machine(aka Art Barr)? I'd heard a bit about Love Machine before but I was shocked at how smooth he was in the ring. Awesome worker, and a great match with that old school mexican/latino style.

The ECW one is brilliant too. Possibly the best WWE DVD I've seen. The way they told the story and the amount of control they gave Heyman and the others in making that video made it very special, akthough they did leave out a couple of guys (eg New Jack). The matches on that DVD are also pretty solid.

- The best of the IC DVD is rubbish. It's just a remake of a VHS they had released in the early ninteies and nearly all the matches on that DVD feature HBK. False advertising if I've ever seen it. What they could potentially do with that theme of best IC matches is mind-blowing and would sell like hotcakes, but they decided not to once again.

Holy sh1t, we all know that Piper will be at Mania and will be doing a special "Piper's Pit" segment, but his guest for that segement is none other than Steve Austin. This segment will be intense, and I llook forward to Mania so much now. Counting down the days.

RAW SPOILERS

The Big News: Following an exciting street fight where Shawn Michaels beat
Edge, Kurt Angle showed up to lay out Michaels and accept his challenge for
WrestleMania. Also, Batista was ready to fight HHH again, but HHH thought
better of that proposition. Finally, Hulk Hogan will be inducted into the
Hall of Fame, and Steve Austin will appear in Piper's Pit at WrestleMania.

What a WrestleMania 21 lineup up for us here.

1. Triple H (Champ) vs Batista for the World Heavyweight Title

My Prediction: Batista to become the new World Heavyweight Champion

2. JBL (Champ) vs John Cena

My Prediction: John Cena to become the new WWE Champion

3. Money In The Bank Ladder Match (Benoit, Edge, Christian, Jericho, Kane, Shelton)

My Prediction: Edge to finally win this one and have a shot at the World Heavyweight Title

4. Kurt Angle vs HBK

My Prediction: Tough one, but I think Kurt Angle should win this one

5. Randy Orton vs The Undertaker

My Prediction: Really sad to see Undertaker lose his winning streak, but The Legend Killer will end it this year.

6. Trish Stratus vs Christy Hemme

My Prediction: Sadly Christy will win this one and the awesome Trish will be without her title :(

7. Big Show vs Akebono

My Prediction: Don't care at all about this one, maybe The Big Show to win?

8. Piper's Pit with Stone Cold Steve Austin

Should be a good little event!

Also heard that Hulk Hogan will come back and have a surprise feud with Mohammad Hassan

Here are my predictions for Wrestlemania 21, more matches to come obviously but we'll add those later:

We'll start big to small

There's no way they can kill the push Batista has been getting recently. He's on such a roll, but I'm still not sure he has the adequate mic skills to be a Champion or the in-ring ability to play a face Champion as of yet. H will work him to a great match for sure but I doubt Batista's ability to carry the strap.

Duffer's Prediction: "New World Heavyweight Champion" ~ Batista

JBL has had the longest title reign in over a decade and has grown in stature as a Champion with every week on Smackdown. Cena is ungodly over at the moment and the logic would be to push him to the moon with a clean Mania win. but like Batista, I don't think Vince and co are really too confident of his abilities to carry the strap. He can cut one hell of a promo, but he's very one-dimensional in the ring and would need to be fed top workers in order to put on *** or above matches.

And what would happen to Bradshaw if he loses the strap? His whole gimmick, as well as the push his Chief of Staff, and Secreataries of Defence all rely on him being Champion so it is possible they'll keep the belt on him till Summerslam as was thought to be the plan before.

Duffer's Prediction: "Still WWE Champion" ~ JBL/ But I hope not.

Taker is 12-0 at Mania and if anyone were to break his streak it sure as hell better not be Orton. Now, we know Vince wants Orton over big, as his face will sell thousand upon thousands of crappy mechandise especially to younger girls but I'm sure Taker has enough backstage pull to not job to this loser in his own backyard.

Duffer's Prediction: Undertaker

The second inter-promotional match involving two of the very best two of all time, although Angle's neck is still fragile and Shawn has been very lacklustre in the ring recently, I wouldn't be surprised if this match goes over 20 minutes and it should be entertaining. Smackdown wins with Taker vs Orton, so I'm gonna say Michaels gets his revenge and the 1-Up on Angle. And since when has Michaels jobbed at Mania?

Duffer's Prediction: Shawn Michaels

The 6 man ladder match will undoubtably be a classic. Unbelievable performers here, but I believ we cans afely count Kane out from becoming the Number 1 contender for now. The other 5 all have a good shot at it. I'd love Edge to win it and get his shot, but he isn't as over as a ME'r should be and needs to develop his character more through a strong feud with a top face before he makes the step up, so I'm counting him out too.

Shelton Benjamin has been great recently carrying Snitsky to a good match and having another excellent one with Edge just recently, but they're in the process of developing this new "Street" Shellton gimmick and a win for him would be a push too far.

I'd love Christian to get a push sometime soon and he never fails to disapoint whenever he's gotten the opportunity, but being stuck with Tomko for so long and so low down the card a win for him wouldn't be believable for mine. They've dropped the ball on this one and we have to see CC move up the cards again before we can dream of a title shot for him.

Now, this is wher eit gets interesting. Benoit and Jericho are both awesomely over and both being booked really strong at the moment. These two are the strong favourites at the moment, but seeing as though Triple H hates Jericho I can't see him getting the shot or the strap as he'd have to change a few people's minds about him and turn heel as well to face Batista.

Leaving Benoit, who I don't think needs a heel turn to face Batista at Backlash and would be a perfect opponent as he's the best there is on RAW as far as carrying opponents and making them look strong. He'd be a perfect first opponent for our new Champion and would do a great job of putting him over.

Duffer's Prediction: "New #1 Contender" ~ Benoit or Jericho if he turns heel

Possibly the worst women's match of all time, hopefully Trish doesn't disgrace the belt by dropping it to a Playboy model.

Duffer's Prediction: "Still WWE Women's Champion" ~ Trish Stratus

Wow, this'll just be sh1te.

Duffer's Prediction: Who Cares?
