Aye, very sad.

The greatest colour commentator and the greatest manager of all-time.

His commentary for the 92 Royal Rumbke match is unlikely to ever be surpassed.

A true great of the business. RIP

This sucks so hard. Been having a terrible day since I heard the news.

It's arguable whether he was the greatest manager or commentator or overall non wrestling personality... What's inarguable is that he was the wittiest guy in wrestling history. Absolutely razor sharp. I actually met him last year too... Terrific guy and an inspiration to me and my dad.

Top 5 Bobby Heenan quotes from the 92 Royal Rumble :

5) "Virgil just came out at number 23. Think how many bags he's gone through in the back!"

4) "I need something to drink. Hey, you, stupid, get me something to drink"

3) *Ric Flair lowblows bulldog* "You know what's at stake here? A man'll do anything. I'd do that to my grandmother if I had to"

2) *Roddy Piper helps Ric Flair* "Thank you Roddy. It's a kilt. It's not a skirt, it's a kilt"

*A minute later Piper attacks flair * "You skirt wearing freak! IT'S NOT A KILT! IT'S A SKIRT!"

1) *Jack Tunney is in the ring* "He's been the best president since Noriega."

Not Terrible
So they're bringing Starrcade back and hopefully for a Network special. Cody Rhodes gave Hayes a bit of **** about it since Dustin wasn't on the card and then Hayes fired back asking if he'd want to tag with him.

FMD I'd pay legit PPV money to see this.

Sounds like it will be a glorified house show, no plans to put it on the Network apparently. Plenty of footage on the Network of the two Rhodes/Runnels teaming together if you're keen for it though.

Whatever it takes!!!
RIP :(

The man basically made HBK, my favorite wrestler of all time, into a star. And that is not even in the top 5 of his achievements. Amazing. What a career. What a legend.

Haha yeah but come on, this is going to be a "Starrcade" in name only. The fact that it's a week after Survivor Series, not televised/on Network, and a Smackdown wrestlers only event all indicates there won't be much special about this.

Hopefully fans giving more of a **** about it than WWE expected will make them make it a bigger deal. I over Beast in the East and the Lesnar in Madison Square Garden was pretty solid too.

Reckon they're sitting on something that could be pretty gun if they put any effort into it.

Yeah, I guess you never know. The Beast in the East and MSG events were on the Network though iirc, but I suppose there is time for them to decide Starrcade should get similar treatment.

And yeah, I suspect you are right, but I imagine whilst the old man is in charge the chance of a Dubya Sea Dubya idea rising to any real prominence is fairly negligible. Similar reasons for why they've never seriously entertained doing a War Games match I guess.

Part of no WarGames was the loss of high-value seating iirc. **** takes up a lot of space.

Also, seems like all of the WhatCulture guys have been future endeavour'd. Wonder what it means for WCPW.

I wouldn't be surprised if they whacked it on the network, but really just seems like they're using the Starrcade name to try and sell a few tickets in an old NWA/WCW hotbed.
