Wrestlers and their cricketing counterparts:

Steve Austin- Gary Sobers- best all round talent
CM Punk- Kevin Pietersen- left in controversial circumstances, do interviews about how bad the company is
Bret Hart- Geoff Boycott- prone to rants which often don't make sense for purposes of self glorification
Mitsuharu Misawa- Sydney Barnes- the best to those who know them
Lalit Modi- Vince McMahon- abandon traditional practices of the sport in favour of gaining mainstream audiences.
Don't watch it as much as I used to but reckon Rock or maybe even CM Punk are more the equivalent of Sobers than SC

It's the entertainment business and those guys had everything - physicality, talent, ability with the mike and versatility

Austin really only had one schtick (and was monumentally successful with it)

Tried to think of a Hitman one and the best I came up with was Jeff Thomson. Thomson's insistence that he is the fastest sorta matches up with Hart's arrogance better than Boycott imo. Course the problem with either a Boycott/Thomson comparison is that Hart has no personality

Bret Hart is Clarrie Grimmet, ATG, bit of a douche, screwed out of his career by Bradman following long rivalry. (Micheals)

Comparing the great man with Boycott/Thomson is a lazy effort.

Bryan played an obnoxious heel a couple of years back where he would often win matches under slightly dubious circumstances/with some slice of luck but would still do the over the top yes chant as though he won it by himself. Was in a feud with Sheamus for the WHC which led to a match at WM 28. The crowd had lots of Brryan fans and they were all looking forward to what would've been a great match. Unfortunately Sheamus pinned him in 18 seconds.

The next night on Raw, the crowd was very vocal with the yes chants and just took over the whole show with "Daniel Bryan" and yes chants, even though he wasn't even on the show. The fans loved Bryan and were pissed he wasn't given any time on the Wrestlemania card and voiced their support. Eventually the support for Bryan got so ridiculous that he was given a WWE championship match vs John Cena at Summerslam, where he pinned Cena. Clean. However HHH (who was the guest referee) pedigreed Bryan after the match allowing Orton to cash in MITB. This started the whole "Orton is the face of the WWE, you're small and average" etc etc.

Bryan was then weirdly phased out of the WWE title picture despite being by far the most popular wrestler on the roster. It all got out of hand when in a Raw segment where HHH was trying to hype a Cena vs Orton () and had guys like HBK, Bret Hart, Cm Punk, etc. in the ring to make it feel epic, and all the crowd was doing was chant for Bryan. They completely and utterly hijacked the segment and HHH couldn't even continue talking without acknowledging kchants

So much awkward on the faces of the guys in the ring. Hehrrific.
