i'll repeat what i said about england after the last ashes - don't panic.
these guys will still bully any team with the probable exception of south africa on their own turf. most of the right players are in the team already. warner and rogers are good openers, clarke and smith form the beginnings of a very very good middle order, haddin is awesome with the bat at home (and only has to bat at seven away) and mitchell marsh batted well. johnson continued to bowl well too.
where it went wrong is starc isn't test class yet to begin with, siddle has lost the plot and you picked two spinners and a biffer at three. i think the margin of defeat was exaggerated like englands in the ashes was and simple things like not feeding two not world class finger spinners to pakistani batsmen or playing maxwell at number three will go a long way to making australia a better side overnight.
iirc you guys have india at home, then the ashes then i think it might be us early next summer. that's a good long break away from UAE style conditions.
warner, rogers, somebody, m clock, tpc, marsh, haddin, johnson, harris, siddle/patto/hilf/someone, lyon is still going to dominate outside of the subcontinent/UAE and you have ages to prepare for the next attempt at it.
