I'd say if all fit this would be the West Indies best team.

Gayle
Hinds
Sarwan
Lara
Chanderpaul
Bravo
Baugh
Powell
Edwards
Lawson
Collins

Whatever it takes!!!
I am not sure about Lawson ahead of Collymore and Best and I am certainly not sure about Bravo being the no.6. Too weak in the batting and not all that great in the bowling, IMO.

shoaib malik's career average is 37 odd. He has only become a good top notch batsman of late. His average in his last five tests is 48 odd. And don't say "yes, for a whole 5 tests" because this is more than half his career.

Looking at kamal's last 5 tests (which is incidentally half his career as well), he averages 39.

Kamal has done more with batting alone, as compared to malik in his career. Malik has far more potential, and this is why the pakistani selectors pick him before kamal.

Having said that, kamal definately should be in the team

Butt
Younis Khan
Malik
Inzi
Kamal
Afridi
Razzaq
Akmal
Rana
Nazir
Kaneria

The problem being, that once youhana comes back, someone is going to have to give way. and it's going to be either salman butt, or asim kamal. now, if they throw out butt, who will open the batting? yes, they could throw afridi up the order again, but in the test matches, he seems to play alot better down the order, and i think they may want to leave him down the order.

Which means kamal could quiet possibly miss out. And richard, pakistani selectors really do always put youhana ahead of kamal (quiet rightly so).

I guess the other option may be to try opening with razzaq. He has the technique and tepmerament, and may be worth a shot.

alsoif you were to compare all three categories, you would look at something like this

"most catches taken per game"
"most wickets taken per game"
"most runs scored per game"

and
award 1 point per run
award 5 points per catch
and 20 points per wicket ( a 5 wicket haul is equivalent to a century)

Gilly will take on average 2 or 3 catches per game. Most of the above bowlers would take 2 or 3 wickets per game. Gilly will score 10-20 more runs than most.

But the batting/bowling all rounder is still ahead...

well, that's the only way i can think of that we could compare the two types of "all roundrs"

At full strength, surely this the best Pakistan team?

Salman Butt
Younis Khan
Inzamam-Ul-Haq
Yousuf Yohana
Asim Kamal
Abdul Razzaq/Shahid Afridi
Kamran Akmal
Umar Gul
Shabbir Ahmed
Shoaib Akhtar
Danish Kaneria

Shabbir might have a dodgy action, but he has been a resounding success in his test (and ODI) career to date, and I can't see the argument for including someone like Sami or Rana ahead of him. Afridi and Razzaq compete for the all-rounders spot, as it is not worth including both of them in place of one of the bowlers. I am much more convinced in Razzaq's reliability, both as a batsman and a bowler, but Afridi has done quite well recently. Gul/Shabbir/Shoaib is a quality pace attack, and Kaneria is a quality spinner as well, and if Younis can adjust to opening that looks like a very solid batting lineup to go with it.

Lawson is more accurate than Best. Not as fast as him any more though but not that far behind. Collymore just doesn't do it for me.Bravo is getting better in his batting. Anybody is better than Browne. This also strengthnes the bowling. I might take out Powell for Collymore though.

yeah, Collymore, if he can keep his wits about him, can do a very good holding job. But u really need 5 seamers in the side?

We need to start an Afridi fan club up in here. :D
Most fan clubs are unfortunately gay. I just choose to support certain players, and then get huge satisfaction when I see them shining. And I have a decent recent record.

One tragic thing about the players I support - they must be crap to start off and/or have majority bagging them out and/or be unknown.

On another note, whoop to Bracken, Afridi and Ervine.

whats that supposed to mean Nnanden?
I think he's just being random.

Disappointing that Youhana's not playing, he's definitely got his priorities right though.

Playing the extra batsman is not much of a difference.

shame there isnt anyone who can keep better than courtney browne in that line up, he cant contribute anywhere near enough as whats needed, iv asked this before but i cant remember the answer, where is carlton baugh and why is he no longer in the test side? he isnt as good as jacobs was but hes a large margin better than browne.
