Would you say Shoaib Malik is another example of that? To me, Afridi is the only one of the Pakistani trio of all-rounders who should play in tests.

Butt, Farhat, Younis, Yousuf, Inzamam, Afridi, Akmal, Rana, Akhtar/Sami/Gul, Asif, Kaneria
Yes he is though he is performing but there is no doubt that he is a blue eyed boy with the management.

Sami for some reason (his bowling is reason enough I think :) ) isnt on that list. Younis Khan is someone, it looks as if, they are forced to live with.

Shoaib Malik & Danish (not saying that Danish shouldn't be in team) are said to be Inzi's blue eyed boys.Malik has actually been a big failure as an opener, but for some stupid reason Inzi is persisting with him.

Gul was very dissapointing today and yesterday too, but i think he's a bit rusty, comming back to test cricket after 2 years isn't all that easy.
For sure but the guy did not even play in the ODI in Sri Lanka, tough ask not to play any sort of cricket in Sri Lanka than be expected to come in. At least Iftikhar Anjum played in the ODI's and did rather well.

When a team continues to bat on meaninglessly as Sri Lanka are doing now, I really wish they lose the opportunity to win the match with just one more wicket to get and zillions of runs still in the lead.

This is not being defensive...this is being STUPID !

According me the surest way of getting someone to be a fixture in the Pakistani team for the next two years is to go on air and say Inzy should drop him. Thats it. The guy's place in the side is guaranteed :)

457 to win or more likely 133 overs to save the game.
Required run rate just under 3.44 per over. Pakistan should open with Razzaq and Afridi

Interestingly the selectors have been trying to give chance to a very promissing leg spin allrounder in Mansoor Amjad in Onedayers for some time now.Inzi is said to be very stubbornly opposing it, as he think that as long as Pak has Danish, there is no need to try any other leggie as that will make Danish insecure.

Have fun with your spin issues, we seem to have solved ours for now with Bhajji striking form again!

KP was taking Bhajji to the cleaners and he was taken off and Yuvraj replaced him. Thank God Yuvi got Kevin or rather Kevin got Kevin and Dravid promptly brought Bhajji back otherwise who knows what would have been Bhajji's fate.:)

Well KP didn't give Bhajji a very good cleaning because a total of 31 runs looks pretty damn good.

I think by close of play today, Pakistan will lose three wkts, and before tea tomorrow, they will be all out!

Kamran Akmal,Younis Khan and Razzak will probably bat well

How about Herath's chances for the second test or in general in sri lanka's future scheme of things, given the fact, Bandara is a preferred option these days?? I thought Herath had always done well whenever he got the chance and also he is as good a bat as Bandara if not better. Any thoughts??
I don't think Herath will make it to the second test. specially if Bandara bowls well in the second innings, but he's definitely in contention for the second spinners spot in future matches.
there's not much difference between Bandara and herath when comparing their batting.

Congragulations to the Lankan batsmen for sticking out there in the middle and putting up an excellent and mature display of batting. I didn't get to see much of the game because of timing conflicts but Inzamam''s captaincy was just too lackluster for words. Obviously, that shouldn't take credit away from Sangakara (who seems to have a love-hate relationship with the Pakistan attack) but a little inventiveness in the field and more judicious juggling of the bolwers might have resulted in a different outcome.

In any case, I still believe that it is the batsmen who are responsible for the current mess, the prime culprit being the captain himself.

Murali has already got two (Farhat, Khan), anymore wickets tonight and Pakistan are going to be staring down the barrel.
