sangers not playing the last test?
Nope.

Back to Surrey.

No sense in extending my career for a year - Sangakkara | Cricket | ESPN Cricinfo
Kumar Sangakkara confirmed he will retire from international cricket after the second Test of Sri Lanka's forthcoming series against India, calling time on one of the most successful careers in modern cricket. Sangakkara will not play the third Test in the ongoing series against Pakistan, choosing instead to play for county side Surrey, before returning to Sri Lanka ahead of the first Test against India.

This doesn't sit well with me. If it were one of my country's players picking and choosing like that I'd not be happy.

yep, its weird that he's actually going over to surrey to play rather than to avail the opportunity to play for his country one of the last few times.

Sanga wanted to retire from all 3 formats after the world cup. It was mathews, sl selectors and one of the ministers who wanted him to be in the young test side before it gets settled a bit. Surrey's main concern before signing him was his availibility during pakistan and india series. He probably made a commitment back then which is why i think he went to play for them. Not sure though. Its just odd that a guy like Sanga will go over to play somewhere else without any valid reason. There is other side to it than what's looking like imo.

I wonder if there's any chance of seeing these 'three slips for Corey Anderson' conditions in Pallekele this time.

Not sure how best to take advantage of the prospect; bets on Kaushal Silva and Mathews to cope best in the first innings perhaps. Maybe a cheeky bet on Pradeep, also Chameera if he wasn't in doubt with a side strain.

Injured Chameera ruled out of Pallekele Test | The Nation

PALLEKELE: Sri Lanka’s new fast bowling ‘find’ Dushmantha Chameera has been ruled out of the third Test against Pakistan starting here on Friday.

Chameera suffered a side strain in the second Test at the P Sara Oval and has been declared unfit for the decider at Pallekele.

Chief selector Kapila Wijegunawardene said that Lahiru Gamage has been included in the squad as a cover up in the event of any injuries occurring to the other fast bowlers.

Sri Lanka will decide on the morning of the match whether they will go with a three-seam combination or stick to their usual two seam, two spin combination which they played with in the first two Tests.

The three seamers available to them are Dhammika Prasad, Nuwan Pradeep and Suranga Lakmal.

If Sri Lanka go with three seamers the solitary spin position is likely to go to young off-spinner Tharindu Kaushal ahead of the experienced Rangana Herath.

Herath who has been the tormentor of the Pakistani batsmen over the years has been unsuccessful in this series capturing only two wickets in the first two Tests.

Kaushal in only his second Test took five wickets in the Pakistan first innings at Colombo.

Wijegunawardene also said a call has to be taken whether to retain batsman Kithuruwan Vithanage at no. 7 or replace him with either Jehan Mubarak or Kusal Perera.

Well that's an interesting development. It's on Fox Sports anyway so I don't need it, but I'll be thrilled if it's made a regular thing.

It's been going on for a while it seems. You can refer back to lots of full days of cricket in the last nine months, even Tests and ODIs that weren't played in Asia -

Ten Sports Network holds the broadcast rights for five major cricketing boards namely South Africa (CSA), Zimbabwe (ZC), West Indies (WICB), Sri Lanka (SLC) & Pakistan (PCB)

greentop, by Asian standards, is generally a tough place to bat on day one
