Easily worse than the loss in the first match. Total humilitaion at the hands of the Saffers, and I'm not sure we'll be able to recover from a loss like this.

Also, regarding our injury woes, why don't we just throw our fast bowlers into giant blenders between matches? It would be much safer than whatever methods we're using right now.

Believe me Pak wont win the next ODI either!!!! It seems they just dont wanna play anymore, if u noticed the body language of Razzaq, Asif, Akmal, Rana and even Yousuf then u would realize that pakistan are in no mood of winning. Lacking afridi from the side really looked as if we had lost half our energy, there was no meaning in the pakistani innings today.

I dont understand the concept of the total defensive mode we come into when the ball is swinging, i could understand they didnt want to loose wickets but they should have learned from the previous strategies that it doesnt work like that, they kept losing wickets constantly which meant they could never open up their arms.

The way things are going pakistan is no where near winning the world cup. Once the tournament is over the first 2 things i would definetly want to change is:

1: Captain, younis khan should lead.

2: Openers, they should properly think about the 2 openers most likely to be beneficial for pakistan for the long term. I would now stick to nazir for some time and with him would put either Malik or Hafeez.

Nazir hasn't even hinted at permanance in the last two ODIs. Obviously it would be a bit harsh on Nazir, but I seriously think we should bring Hameed in for him. Also Akmal has been a disaster, hes nothing resembling a one day opener. Malik is the only one of our batsmen who can open who is in any form at the moment and I have been advocating him opening for a while now.

I agree with u with Malik as an opener, however i would like to see Salman Butt to open the innings with him, with Nazir being the reserve opener.

Despite all his faults, Salman Butt is the best opening batsmen that Pak has, and if Nazir can come back into team on basis of good domestic cricket performance, then Salman should be brought back too for showing good form with bat.If Inzi has any intelligence, then he would select Salman butt for WC.

I like Salman Butt too, but coming back in with one match left before the World Cup seems a bit late doesn't it? I think Hameed can do the job as well, and at least hes had some international cricket recently.

A poor performance from Pakistan and we cannot expect to win the world cup with matches like these. After a good start from Imran Nazir he is looking quite poor. However, he should play the next match. Kamran Akmal has been quite poor for a while and i think that he cant be dropped now just before the world cup but he should bat down the order with maybe Malik opening. Pakistan will need to put up a very good display against South Africa next match to win.

Why it is with the Pakistani young batsmen only that they score loads of runs in the first few matches or so then they fail miserably, then they get dropped and after growing a beared or so they try to make a come back and the " in and out " race with others like them continues and never ends !
Do we have reliable academies in Pakistan ? I remember that in old times even Punjab University was considered as a first class team and the standard was very very nice and the university itself provided necessary coaching etc . Why our young openers fail ? Have you ever noticed the reasons behind it ?
As Sarfraz said " Imran Nazir plays risky shots all the time and has no place in the international team " . I want maturity up-stairs . Aamir Sohail and Saeed Anwar was a combo which last worked for us ..... As long as one senior batsman (who really loves the pride of the country ) will not step up to open along with a promising youngster ,the problem will stay there .........

Well for me the answer should be that I want some one with an average of 32 and a s/r of 75 ... And I want the batsman to maintain that for at least 2 years (remember Aamir Sohail)............

Get the one thing that is working remotely well for Pakistan (their middle order) and change it by making the players do something else. Great stuff.

Thats an irrational statement . I guess you are thinking with a 'Bari brain' . One senior is definitely needed to go up there to start constructing the inning and to tame down the little parrot batting at the other side with a batting vocabulary of a 5 year old child . But no one will take the responsibility cuz they all are afraid of facing the new ball and did you see one thing when I mentioned the strike rate of 75 ? It shows that this batsman is supposed to play out some deliveries and he has taken the team out of initial jolts .

Nah, not saying we should kick him into the proverbial ditch or anything, just saying it would be beneficial to give Hameed a chance as well. With Nazir we now know what we're getting, which is an explosive but rather off and on opener. He should be in the World Cup squad, and possibly given an extensive run after that depending on his performance, but I think we also need to take a second specialist opener out of either Hameed or Hafeez. Hafeez brings flexibility with his capabilities with the ball, and Hameed adds flexibility to the batting lineup as he has batted successfully down the order.

Imran nazeer is very lucky to make it to the squad on the basis of one good performance against SA.

Danish is named probably coz that is a possibility that all the Pakistan's strike bowlers in Asif,Akhtar and Gul might be forced to miss the cup coz of different reasons (drug ban/injury) as such Pak wants a wkt taking bowler in the squad.
