T20Is summed up by the fact most of the posts in the tour thread were made by ashley bach pointing out idiosyncrasies in the score.

Long may Tuesday March 18's match live in the memory of those who saw it

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
As pointed out, what’s surprising is it feels like no-one knows these games are on but yet the crowds suggest they definitely do
A day out at the t20 is essentially a short period to be on the piss and cheer at dingers

Often described by others as "a great family day" especially for the short attention spans of youngsters who only get shorter attention spans.

Mitchell is looking a long way from the batsman circa 2022/23 across all formats.

I hope the selectors don't continue to see him as indispensable, I feel he's lost that right in the last 12 months, the same way as Conway did.

Excellent, the last time you made one of these posts was right before Mitchell scored 82 at Mumbai.

Obviously not a piece of in-depth cricket analysis but Mitchell just gives me a very weird vibe these days. It was probably always on the cusp of surfacing because of his quirky mannerisms on the field and relative lack of athleticism (he tends to look pretty awkward in the field and running between the wickets) combined with his obvious attempts to be an Alpha Batsman - he's just goofy enough that as soon as his form deserts him it starts to feel more like self-parody. Now it sort of feels like watching a silly man drop catches and play silly shots while winking at the audience.

Well let's hope he gets the memo then if that's all it takes.

Just to qualify my statement, I'm not calling for his head I'm just saying the selectors should be equally open to replacing him on form as they did with Conway -who incidentally I still feel was unlucky to be overtaken by Young in the pecking order given he's a better player of spin than Young & assuming the selectors would put that decision down to Young's relatively better form, but more so for the right/left opening batting combination.

Yes agree, unfortunately for Mitchell he hasn't got a lot of natural attributes to fall back on when he's out of nick compared to other batsmen who still seem to find ways to score when in bad form.

Conway has now opted for a casual agreement with NZC rather a central contract though, so I think that may have a bit to do with Young getting the nod ahead of him.

That shouldn't at all be a factor though mid a world tournament when they'd already picked Conway in the squad ..... at that point it's about the best XI to win games.
