*Official* Pakistan in New Zealand 2020/21

There were lots of positives for Pakistan. Rizwan, Azhar Ali, Afridi, Ashraf, fawad had reasonable outing. Comparing with the openers this season Abid Ali is not a bad investment. Abbas was quite good but unlucky.

Maybe if Pakistan had 2 or three more consistent players they could have put in better performance.

Catching I thought would be better from this Pakistan unit but nope lot of work to be done in that area. It was a huge let down for them.

Also big thanks to Pakistan for coming here especially in a Covid world. The first test was wonderful and very competitive and if catches had been taken and/or no balls avoided, the 2nd one could've been very different.
Agree, gotta be grateful that both the West Indies and Pakistan have gone through the rigmarole of quarantine in order to play in NZ; thanks guys.

When you're losing it sucks but it can be a silver lining to receive a strong signal about where some of your players stand, which happened here. e.g.
Strong positive: Rizwan, Faheem, SS Afridi
Strong negative: Haris Sohail, Naseem (right now)
(just as with WI I didn't include openers or spinners on the strong negative list, as NZ is a rough place to tour for those)

Yeah, the second big tour Pakistan undertook this year, must be quite tough being on the road (rather,, in a bubble) for extended periods of time. Competed pretty well I thought but most mistakes they made tended to prove very costly or turn into huge moments, happens when you're playing a well oiled machine like NZ at home.

Yeah, SA’s batting in particular looks a rabble. Still they have some quality bowlers (well at least one if Rabada is fit) so I could see them pinching a test. Can’t say the same for England in India. Either way an Aus v India final is looking odds on
Yeah.

The frustrating thing about this is that regardless of the standings, arguably NZ would be favourites against either of those teams in English conditions. Arguably.

Waqar was blaming the covid isolation requirements as the reason for the bowler's poor performance. There might be something to it, but you have to assume that arrangements could be made to bring exercise equipment into the player's rooms to help them at least stay physically fit in the run-up to the series.

Wasn't it. There was some promising bowling from the opening bowlers in the A game just before the tests. Picking a very very raw third seamer and dropping a dozen catches across 2 tests is a surefire way of nerfing the potency of any attack. Also Yasir Shah doing Yasir Shah Outside Asia things.
