Is he really that good or the pitch making him look good? And is he good enough to bat at 6 for NZ as a batsman?

He's bowling the perfect length for the pitch, whether or not that's just because it's happened to be his natural length, or because he's able to work out what length to bowl isn't known.

Batting wise, no worse than anyone else we've tried at 5 and 6 recently.

Yeah Southee's first spell was absolutely terrible. Boult was meh rather than terrible but his figures still obviously flatter him at this point.

He bowled remarkably well for four out of those six dismissals, some great deliveries there, hitting the seam repeatedly and never letting the batsmen get off with leaving him.

This is what he's bowled. First spell was 125-130, second spell a little slower than that. He impressed with a fiery bouncer at 118km/hr at one point.

He was pretty much at 127-131 the entire innings.
