Henry is another Bracewell, plugs away on a nice area but no movement, no lift off the wicket, no seam to speak of and far too easy for good batsmen to play.
This isn't the case with the newer ball. With the older ball yes, he needs to find a way to extract more movement.

For me, I think his natural length is just a little bit too short for test cricket. It's great for limited overs cricket which he's had great success in but he doesn't quite bowl full enough in test cricket to get the results.

Definitely. I'm sure he's conscious of this and is focusing on hitting a good length more often, however obviously by not banging the ball into the pitch as much he gets less seam movement (unless the ball is new). Hopefully he'll find a little more pace or become a little better at rolling his fingers over the ball to make the good length work better.

Ha. Short, wide, and of course Wagner manages to pick up the wicket bowling that.

Good captaincy by Williamson though

Hopefully this kills the "Henry is a good test bowler" club. Time to go to someone like Wheeler when he's fit and ready.

Williamson showing a bit of inexperience here - it's always better to have the bounce attack at the opposite end of the wind so the ball holds in the breeze, rather than carries.

Who do we have to replace Nicolls? He's had more than enough opportunities now..
Replace him with Munro and you instantly have a better player at 5. Nicholls shouldn't get the SA series if he can't score runs against Bangaldesh. 15 or so innings is more than enough if you average 25, and generally don't look at all like you belong.

Sohail Khan to join the ranks of Harbhajan Singh, Jerome Taylor, Junior Murray and several others whose innings I've scrubbed from my mind to score a century against us?

The Bangladesh series is the time to blood a new No 5 I think.

Nicholls has had a poor FC season too with Canterbury so far, so I think he needs to go back and work on his game. He's clearly badly out of touch and keeping him in the team does himself and the Black Caps no favours. He's young enough to come back better too.

Plum.

The angle he delivered that from wasn't the angle DRS showed - that made it look like Makaya Ntini had released it.
