The good news in relation to decisions like this one is that the more bad umpire calls that are made the quicker ICC will try to rush the review system back into series like this one.dont recall many.
as far as umpiring decisions to go, and in the absence of UDRS that was a harsh/bad decision, umpire cannot have been that certain.
Yes was around mid-late 120kph's yesterday, no real pace at all.Was Brent Arnel this slow yesterday? At the ground he didn't seem as nippy as usual but he's a good 5-8k's down on pace today then what he usually is.
Martin looks really, really tired, which is a bit disappointing given this innings is barely 1 day old.
^ Hate being right sometimesNah, Pakistan are ahead, 380-420 looks par batting first on that deck imo. There's no reason they can't roll us for 280 tomorrow & then get 450. Even though their batting isn't proven, it's not like we have a ferocious attack & the wicket looks superb for batting.
I'd love to know why Vettori's bowling him into the wind tbh.Martin looks really, really tired, which is a bit disappointing given this innings is barely 1 day old.
Agreed, NZ couldn't host Pakistan with out their traditional innings collapse of <150 at some stage of the seriesReckon we're going to be treated to a New Zealand Batting Special (TM) next innings. Pakistan to win by ten wickets.
have repeatedly said its a great batting track - pak are just playing to too much of a "game plan" - its self defeating.^ Hate being right sometimes
i dont think NZ can be disappointed based on their performance this morning, dont think they have bowled well enough to earn that right - they look tired and predictable.NZ will be disappointed they didn't build on the double strike earlier in the session, and have allowed another partnership to build, and the lead grow to 39 by lunch.
As has been said it's a tough pitch for the bowlers, and it's not easy for the batsmen to score quickly, hence the overall run rate of 2.90 in this Pakistan innings. The batsmen need to remain patient and be disciplined, think all the batsmen today could have worked the ball around better, but it's not easy when it is so slow.
Akmal looked really good.
NZ will be disappointed on the basis they had two new batsman at the crease, both very inexperienced, a number seven and a number eight, and have failed to bowl well enough to dismiss them, and have failed to take the chances they have created. At the point these two first came to the crease NZ were still 19 runs ahead, so to now be 39 runs behind I think will be very disappointing.i dont think NZ can be disappointed based on their performance this morning, dont think they have bowled well enough to earn that right - they look tired and predictable.
on the other hand misbah should be disappointed, he played ultra defensive and whilst it got some runs he needed to go into run accumulation mode to justify his tactics
its still a really good track, you can score at a decent rate as long as you back yourself now and again, this has happened for periods in the match but neither team have the quality to do it for a sustained period.
nz do have plenty of batsmen who are not afraid to swing the bat, match is nicely poised - as ever, first half hour of the next session will be crucial.
