Well, that's that. Gul has come back really well. Tomorrow is going to be epic.

Southee needs to learn not to give Martin 3 balls against a fast bowler.

IIRC, he did it against England a couple of years ago as well on his debut half-century.

Game is very well poised. If NZ had of got 300+, Pakistan wouldn`t have chased it.

NZ just needs to go for the win because if Pakistan bat out the day, they should be close to the total.

293 all out. 274 for Pak to chase. Only once have Pak ever chased anything above 300 in their history in the 4th innings.

And i wonder how many times (certainly not more than 5 times I presume) have they chased over 250.

Nah, if Pakistan are smart (and I know that's not a given), they'll play it safe and take no chances. They have a few overs to survive today and still have a whole day to bat out. This team hasn't been in this position for many years. Forget going for the win, just surviving with this inexperienced lineup is going to be tough.

If they bat normally and keep wickets in hand, they should get close. NZ will need early wickets to keep the scoring rate down.

Another good day at the basin. Couldn't believe they managed to squeeze 88 overs in, all the showers in town must've just skirted around the ground. It looks like it'll rain pretty heavily tonight (looks pretty murky down in the hutt right now), so there could be a delayed start. But if we get the full 92 overs, my money is firmly with Pakistan. They've showed real grit and maturity on this tour, while the New Zealand bowlers have looked largely ineffectual. Maybe if it's muggy and overcast tomorrow morning (and it was incredibly humid today) Timmeh might swing the ball and pick up a few wickets, but if Pakistan navigate the first hour for 1 wicket or less, they'll win.

Oh, and if Brent Arnel stays in the New Zealand team, then I think Chris Martin will have to bat at number 10, which would surely have to count as the 7th sign of the apocalypse.

EDIT: Oop, the rain is here and it is absolutely ****ting down.

Barring rain, Pak should win this. Top order Hafeez aside seem in good touch and up until now they haven't had a mad half hour. Lot will be expected from Vettori given the amount of turn Hafeez was getting and how dartman was even getting the ball to turn appreciably.

Could be a good finish as long as the weather stays away.

Wouldn't want to call this as both the NZ attack and Pak batting are capable of being awful and there is the extra uncertainty of whether Pakistan take a nice brown envelope overnight.

Just pray the weather stays clear enough for a result.
