***Official*** Pakistan in England

Ok..over the last 2 years, which I think is an adequate timescale for a team to perform over to prove its worth! (Not including playing vs B'desh)

Pakistan P21 W 7 L 8 36.7/38.6
England P24 W10 L6 37.3/30.8
India P24 W9 L5 37.3/33.7

I think its pretty clear that the two teams that genuinely have proved they can do it over the last two years are India and England, Pakistan have yet to prove they can consistantly win, as shown by the fact they have lost more games than they have won.

Well Pak wasnot even in the running before the last England's series this goes to show the huge strides taken by this team though i must admit this series has been a step back.

You mention this a lot. but that doesn't mean you don't have a bias towards England though. I think the fact that you have to mention it a lot shows this, that and the fact that you live there obviously.

Mind you I agree with you in this case, England are the 2nd best team in the world.
I have changed my location thingy now, just to stop any confusion in the future:)

I dont have a bias towards England, but I am willing to give them full credit for how well they have played over the last 3 years, which is something quite a lot of people (including people who would appear to support England who regularly post on here) seem to have a problem doing.

Over that period of time there have been only two teams who can come close to challenging Australia in test cricket, and thats India and England...those three teams are the three teams who manage to play at a very high standard (bar the occassional blip) over a long period of time . Pakistan havent been able to do this over a period of time, and thats why I am baffled that people do consider them to be the second best in the world (well befor ethis series anyway), because it took England and India a long period of time to prove themselves to be worthy contenders.

Going by the form of the Pakistani team last winter.
hey, Australia have played pretty well in the last 12 months as well, the result of this mythical Pak vs Aus in Pakistan series wouldnt just rely on Pakistans form...Australia would have some say in it as well:)

That is exactly my point, they werent in the running only 9 months ago..England and India have been putting in performamces for a lot longer period to prove their worth..Pakistan have to continue to beat teams over say the next 18 months to show that they have made genuine improvement towards being a second place contender.

I wrote in a sarcastic manner because you were making it sound like OZ would have had a cakewalk over Pakistan if you read my initial post you can clearly see that what i meant was that if Aus would have visited Pakistan last winter it would have been a hugely entertaining close fought sereis.

Where did you get those stats?

Did you have to trail through archived series on cricinfo or is there a better way?

yeah I am sure it may have been entertaining, but I think anything other than an Australian win in this made up series would have been a disappointment to Australian supporters.

It wouldnt have been a cake walk, but Australia would have to have been considered favourites and so I struggle to see why 1-1 would have been the most likely result.

To be honest it is pointless even discussing it, as it never happened

Where is the 3rd test match link?
why..do you not know where to find it.:D

the thing is there is no way you can say the Indian batsmen were crushed when 6 Indian batsmen averaged over 40
