Game on....another couple of wickets before 50 and I'd make England favourites. :p

Very steady stuff from Lewis. If he were just a yard quicker or maybe a coupla inches taller he'd be quite a serious bowler at this level. As it is the suspicion remains he'd be cannon fodder on a flat pitch.

I can't wait till he and Rikki bowl in tandem.
Funnily enough, I could wait an eternity for that occurence.

So this Onions, anyone seen him bowl, is he any cop? (this question also aimed at England selectors.

Lewis may struggle in places like Australia, but surely he's a better bet then Mahmood at least in ODIs.

The commentators aen't giving him his dues, he's bowled damn near perfect these last to games while Mahmood has been dreadfull ever since he started playing one dayers.

I'd certainly agree with you on that. When Mahmood becomes more accurate (if ever) then he should be considered for the ODI team, but now he should be overlooked. I'm at a loss to why probably the best Left Arm Seamer in the country, Jason Lewry is being overlooked at the moment.

I saw him bowl a couple of times on Sky last summer. Wasn't much cop. I also saw Glamorgan's batters slog him everywhere this summer. Not much cop.

The media are picking up on the Shoaib incident and several agencies are running stories about it. It might be making a mountain out of a tiny molehill but I suspect this might not go away without more questions being asked. The spotlight is again on Mike Procter, the match referee, and we wait to see if he actually does something proactive to nip this in the bud, as opposed to his laissez faire approach which failed so spectacularly at The Oval.
This could be interesting.

If something does come of it then I wonder how people will react?

Shoaib has done it before and he got banned for it, but speaking as a cricket fan, I sincerely hope that he was merely rubbing dirt off it rather than into it, or scratching it.

I have not seen ze incident so I cannot comment (copyright Arsene Wenger). However, if Akhtar wasn't tampering, by the sound of it he still oughta have been more careful in light of recent events. If he was, then he's an absolute plank

Quite right. Without wishing to open up another can of worms about a topic that's been debated to death here & elsewhere, that's one of the reasons why I found the "insult to national pride" excuse for their non-appearance to be so much cant.

I've no doubt they had their reasons (on which I won't speculate), but the continual selection of Shoaib (& Afridi for that matter) means hurt national pride doesn't have the ring of versimilitude to me.

At this point in time, I wouldn't even clean the ball. He is an idiot for doing anything that could even remotely look like ball tampering. Anyone have any stills/videos? If he is shown to be guilty, he needs to be suspended for like ten tests.
