"Patron of the PCB" would've worked!
But it sounds even more official the way I worded it and makes my point about him commenting sounds that much better!Neil Pickup said:"Patron of the PCB" would've worked!
I am sure Mr. Musharraf has the rights, but should he (esp when he is also the President of the country), In anycase I am with Imran on this one ?Fusion said:As a member of the opposition, he would criticize President Musharaf for breathing. Musharaf is the patron in cheif of the PCB. He had a right to comment on this issue.
I think he should've made the statement to support his team. Again, he is the Patron of the PCB (happy Neil?), so his support for their actions would count for a lot. I can respect yours and Imran's opinion on this too. However, I would ask if Musharaf as the Patron doesn't have a right to comment, then why does Imran?Sanz said:I am sure Mr. Musharraf has the rights, but should he (esp when he is also the President of the country), In anycase I am with Imran on this one ?
As a highly respected international cricketer and public figure not just in Pakistan but across the world?Fusion said:I think he should've made the statement to support his team. A massive "ASIF ACCUSED" on the back page...Sanz said:You mean this one from the Dailymail ?
"Seams OK: Asif examines the ball under the watchful eye of Billy Doctrove"
Fair enough. However, it's not like Musharaf is totally unrelated to this matter. Like I said, he's the ultimate boss and his support to the team would be valuable to the players. I don't think it's that big a deal for him to comment. However, I can see a valid argument against that reasoning.Jungle Jumbo said:As a highly respected international cricketer and public figure not just in Pakistan but across the world?

I would imagine the British press will carry it tomorrow. I know it's made it onto the Times blog.Sanz said:Afridi's story that was published by the tabloid(aka times) of India 6 months ago ?
It could have some resonance that, considering he only snared one wicket in the second innings...Sanz said:Afridi's story that was published by the tabloid(aka times) of India 6 months ago ?
And I dont see any newspaper saying that Asif was the one accused of match fixing by Fletcher.
Indeed. I am not trying to say that it's a good newspaper...TT Boy said:
The same paper which had on it's front page yesterday, 'My fears for Apartheid UK'.
Tell that to Surrey...silentstriker said:The umpire should never accuse a team of something like this, unless they saw someone tampering with the ball.
Looking at the circumstances I don't see how it can be any other way.Jono said:Facing an 8 match ban, unbeleivable.
Indeed he did.Sanz said:If I am not mistaken, I think KP hit those Sixes after the ball was replaced.
I've always seen Kamran Abbasi as as close to neutral as they come, he's not one to hold back on criticising the Pakistani team.marc71178 said:Oh yes, coming from the oh-so-neutral Abbasi that article has a great deal of weight.
Playing badly and cheating are two different matters, though.Armadillo said:I've always seen Kamran Abbasi as as close to neutral as they come, he's not one to hold back on criticising the Pakistani team.
Between the fall of Cook and the ball change, when did it hit the advertising boards then?a10khan said:Bottom line is u cant accuse of tampering unless u r absolutely sure. When he signalled 5 runs he meant that condition of the ball has been changed. An old ball lookd increasingly deteriorated these days due to the advertisement boards, etc.
