*Official* Pakistan in England and Ireland 2016

England have scored 100 in the session. The RR is fantastic. Amir has looked out of sorts and rahat has been his expensive self. Up to Sohail and Yasir to do something

am i right in saying smashilah is gambiring here? Pak well on top IMO if we look at who has been dismissed and who is left to bat

He is slightly gambiring but no more than he usually does. This is normally a 350 match winning total pitch and hasn't looked any different. Anything above 275 is going to be well in the game and England still have 3 batsmen to come.

Pak on top but leaking a few too many runs.

Vince still wafting at wide balls.

Ballance is never more than 4 inches away from his stumps and therefore is a constant LBW waiting to happen.

All true, but I just wonder how much the pitch will ease up by the time Pakistan are batting.

With all the talk about slow overrates and how modern players waste so much time and should be penalised with cricketing punishments like runs, I am amazed there is not even a conversation about the real causes for the delays - sight screen movements, poor administration, disruption because some dickhead can't shut the door. It's incredible how silly yet common these occurences are in cricket.

Batsmen faffing. Captain faffing. Umpires faffing.

Day 2 will quicken up a bit, which might make it better for batting however it will start to spin as well. Would not have wanted to face Yasir last here.

Do think it will seam around less once it's had the covers off and some sunshine on it for a day or so?

What is this 'sunshine' you speak of? It will seam less I think because the first session was really pronounced movement but I still think it will do a bit for the entire match.

Ah, that's what comes of following the game on cricinfo instead of the telly.

Hopefully you're right. And perhaps Broad is due one of his godlike spells too.

I was more making a British weather joke but yeah it isn't sunny I wouldn't say. Not enough to impact the pitch anyway. Think both teams are in the game at 300-350, but I'd rather be the batting side.

Yeah, I think either decision at the toss was understandable for this reason. I know it is seen as defensive or whatever but I understand why Pakistan did not want to bat this morning.
