It would be interesting to find out England's ratio of drops to catches compared to other countries. We feel far worse, but maybe that's just because I tend to remember ours more.

Re: England dropped slip catches. It seems to me that the England slips are standing pretty close, and that is as much the problem. We constantly hear old bowlers on commentary bemoaning edges dropping short, and saying they’d rather catches are dropped than falling short. Well they aren’t falling short for England... Even the simplest “looking” catches have to consider reaction time.

Just seen Buttler's drop. Oh that's horrid. He's been excellent in this match with his confidence restored but needs a quick screamer to make up for it!

In other news in the Bob Willis Trophy currently Ben Foakes is 112no.... :ph34r:

Rob, two things: I'm not sure how wobble in the air would cause Buttler to go under the ball on the right line; and the ball didn't move on the replay you showed,

And off they go. Apart from the latest dropped catch, I don't think we've created much this morning. A couple of plays and misses, but that's pretty standard against the new ball.

also, has Azhar Ali done enough to replace one of Haniff/Anwar in Pak's ATG team yet?

@trundler
Anwar was much, much better outside Asia even though he had his issues about being loose on the outside. And certainly not Hanif who boasts a higher FC average than Barry Richards. :ph34r:

Whatever it takes!!!
So the only update on the crapinfo scorecard is it went from "Match delayed by bad light" to "Match delayed due to rain" to "Match delayed due to wet outfield". FMD.

England, climate, FFS etc.

How much talk is there about Archer being pretty pish latelyandwhere he’s likely to land medium-long term?

Well, for starters, Root seems to have finally realized he cannot be used as the stock bowler and given 10 over spells. That is a good thing. Now it is up to Archer to realize that he has to give 100% every spell and that 100% does not just mean speed.

He has mad skills and as long as he can work it out up top, he can be lethal.

I see him as in the “will he end up Patrick Paterson or Michael Holding?” phase atm. Probably fortunate they’ve had two low sides touring this summer over there, but I reckon they’ll be looking at his attitude as output pretty hard. The dropping last test seems like a shot across the bow to him. Not a af approach imho
