If he broke the finger why did it take a week for it to come out?
Fingers are funny things - hairline breaks can cause no pain/irriation, then half-heal before getting caught again (in the warm up at Worcester IIRC) and fracture spectacularly second time through. Take that from experience!

5-6 miles, drove through it this morning on the way back from a wedding.
Well, tomorrow is Warwickshire U11 B v Oxfordshire U11 B - 40 overs a side, 1pm start, estimated finish time 7pm.

If you're around, pop down and see if my lot can make it two victories over the Bears this season on the back of my U10s' win last week. I'll be the ginger bloke (duh) doing his nut on the boundary or in the scorehut as the finish goes down to the final over...

Unfortunately most normal people don't take 6-8 week long holidays!

Be glad it's tomorrow and not Tuesday (or for that matter yesterday) - you stand a fighting chance of getting in the game.

Yep, England fan - but cricket fan first and foremost and, admittedly running the risk of standing on cliché, that sure as hell wasn't cricket.

I have been ranting a bit about sportsmanship, attitude and spirit at the lower levels of the game, where I'm an active coach, lately, and I can't help but feel the fact that a "role model" gets away with acting like a **** is a contributory factor towards some of the clear and present arrogance that you can see in a number of very good young players: arrogance that you know isn't going to help a 10-year-old progress with his game.

Oh, Marc, how far away from Wellesbourne are you? I'm there tomorrow with a County U11 B match.
Well put...goes for all the sportsmen out there...and i would say even more so for cricketers for the type of sport it is and what it requires from you as a person....

This... This arrogance has been part of Football, Rugby, American football and lots other... But NEVER cricket, it is the reason why some choose to play the game, they want a game where they can have fun without being abused of touching someones hair etc... (Ronaldo you see:ph34r:) And I would NEVER expect to see such things in future, or harsher punishments...

Now that Haider is out, it seems for the rest of the series will Akmal get an understudy? There is an ODI series to follow the Tests after all. What about Sarfraz Ahmed who played in Australia, or is there someone already in England? Could one of the batsmen do a job behind the stumps if needed?

Bring akmal and bring Alam please! Alam isn't even in the squad though... So yeah just lose and see...

Yasir Hameed has done a fair bit of wicket keeping in his time.

Plus having to wait for the swelling to go down before you can get x-rays, etc.

Better than Akmal these days yeah, not sure about his experience in the longer format though.
Certainly a better athlete than Akmal and seems more fit as well....

But what a loss ZQH was..i just hope they bring him back in after he recovers..(highly unlikely if you know PCB and politics in it)...

Don't see how we can win the rest of the games only on Mo Yo's head...Hameed must make it to the playing 11 on top of one of the noobs....

Does anyone know if Broad's throw had anything to do with Zulqi's injury? (sorry if it has been discussed already)
It didn't cause the initial injury, if that's why you mean. There are "rumors" that it aggravated the injury as it hit him on the same spot. The Pakistani camp hasn't officially said so, but that's what the general chatter seems to be.

I'm glad that Mo Yo and Hameed are back in the XI, I am slightly concerned though that the 2 batsman who reports suggest will be dropped are Shoaib Malik and Umar Amin - there goes the 2 batsman who can bowl a bit.

Ajmal is going to have to bowl very long spells most likely.

Farhat can bowl some pretty useful leggies. He's a better bowler than Amin, although obviously the conditions have suited him a lot less and Malik's been used as the second spinner already, so Amin's got more of a bowl.

I don't like what I've seen of Farhat's bowling (or batting but that's another story).

I think his Test bowling average of 83 is more accurate reflection than his first class bowling average of 29. Plus he hasn't taken a Test wicket in over 6 years.

Now watch him run through the English batting order tonight. lol

Haha he's definitely a better bowler than his Test record suggests. He's not going to be a decisive factor with the ball but I'd definitely be comfortable enough with him bowling the overs Amin would've bowled.

I must commend Stuart Broad on a brilliant piece of thinking....

He identified Haider as Pakistan's best batsman in the last Test, threw the ball at him, and fractured the Pakistan keeper's finger, ruling him out of the rest of the series. In return, Broad 'escapes' with a fine, and he will be playing at the Oval today, while Haider will not.

So, Pakistan enter this match weakened, thanks to Broad's antics, while England remained unaffected....

8-)

The reactionary responses to Haider's injury are hilarious. Where were all these accusations that Broad tried to take him out of the Test prior to the injury being announced?

Get ****ed, seriously.
