50 up for Cook. Very well played, and in quick time coming off 77 balls. If you were watching this innings with no prior knowledge you'd actually think he was in pretty good knick. Has played nicely.
Looking at cricinfo's commentary, he's been pretty streaky at times. Cook seems to have decided that if he is in danger of losing his place, he might as well enjoy himself in the process. Which was different to his approach in SA, when he did better by leaving anything that didn't absolutely need playing at iirc.

Yeah, he had 2 dodgy moments quite early this morning, but other than that he's looked very good.

"Swann has got a straight arm, yet there's a kink with Ajmal and it must be within 15 degrees as that's the tolerance that you're allowed. The key to that kink is that he can bowl the doosra, Swann can't. He's got a straight arm, so hasn't got the doosra, Ajmal has."

One of the worst 'Third Man' Analysis pieces I've ever seen. First off there's no tolerance as to the degrees of 'kink' allowed in the arm, it's the amount of straightening. Then, is the only reason Ajmal's capable of bowling the doosra down to the slight kink in that elbow? Surely it's more down to the wrist than him simply having a slight bending of the elbow?

Hundred up, lead of 25. Going along nicely this morning, just hope Cook can keep this innings going and make a three figure score.

Not at all. If we're going to stick with Cook, which it seems like we are, I'd rather he made some bloody runs and now that he's got a start I'd like to see him go on and make a ton.

Haha, no, I'm just saying I normally get too excited and jinx players by declaring they'll defo get a ton

I love it when Cook scores runs although it does upset me that someone younger than myself has like 37 Test hundreds

Good stuff by England, the morning session is always the toughest to survive. How have Pakistan bowled here?

Asif/Aamer trying hard but not getting anything from the pitch.

Wahab bowling the worst kind of **** on earth.

Saaed bowling economically but not looking particularly dangerous.

Yeah, England level or marginally ahead for me at the moment. Pakistan must be regretting having only a 75 run first innings lead. A couple of quick wickets could change all that, though.

Agree with that, another 100 run session though with only 1 or 2 wickets going down and England are in the driving seat.

Surely you're not serious?
Nah not on the state of the match i would have Pakistan just ahead but that was just from giving each session a score.

Day 1 Session 1: England 70/5 Pakistan 9 England 1
Day 1 Session 2: England 70/5 to 175/7 Pakistan 5 England 5
Day 1 Session 3: England to 233ao Pak 48/1 Pakistan 6 England 4
Day 2 Session 1: Pakistan to 111/4 England 7 Pakistan 3
Day 2 Session 2: Pakistan to 215/5 Pakistan 8 England 2
Day 2 Session 3: Pakistan to 308ao England 6-1 Pakistan 7 England 3
Day 3 Session 1 England to 110/2 Engladn 9 Pakistan 1

Thats just rating the play so far i guess, can't see England have won more thant 2 posssibly 3 sessions. A couple might be adjusted slightly but I think when you factor in the toss, and Pakistan batting last if you could encapsulate those in points it would put England about level

England ahead? Not imo.35/2 on this flat pancake of a pitch isn't a great position to be in,tbh. We all remember how Eng collapsed from 330 odd/4 to 350 all out in the first test.A wicket now and Pakistan will undo all the good work done by the Eng bats in the first session. Now that Yosaf is back,I expect Eng will not feel comfortable with a lead less than 300.

Stating the score of 35/2 ignores the fact we have a well-set batsman...

That being said, converting hasn't been his biggest strength in the past couple of years, so let's see what happens

Good to see Cook in the runs, hes done a lot of work on his technique over the past year and I honestly think all the talk regarding his technique is overblown. His technique is just fine, hes just been out of form.
